I cannot recommend Professor Eden highly enough. After a frustrating experience with a previous gynecologist who dismissed my concerns, I sought a second opinion from Professor Eden, and it was the best decision I made for my health. He immediately took my condition seriously and urgently referred me to the RWH, where I was seen within a week. Thanks to his quick action and expertise, I was able to get the necessary D&C, which revealed I had Hyperplasia—a condition that could have progressed into something far more serious if left untreated.

His professionalism, knowledge, and genuine concern for his patients set him apart. I am incredibly grateful for his care and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a thorough and compassionate specialist.

I spent over a month trying to get a referral to see someone about severe PMDD. I was at first told by reception that yes that they do treat that and gave me the particular doctor's name that does. Then I went to two GPs to try and get the referral and got the referral. Unfortunately this referral was useless as I was told later on that they don't treat this issue and then of course reception has since ghosted me about this. Love that you are continuing the tradition of not taking women's issues seriously! If women are coming to you I guarantee it's their last ditch attempt at getting help because no one else is taking them seriously.

My GP referred me to Prof Eden. My first appointment I was not sure what to expect but walked out with a game plan and a follow up booked for 3 months later.
Professor Eden is the best of the best and worth the wait to see. His staff are so delightful and friendly. Highly recommend!

The team were wonderful and caring from first appointment to surgery some time later. I cannot fault them. I am eternally grateful to Dr Karen Chan, Dr Jason Chow and co.
Dr Karen is the first specialist who properly heard me after 12 years of fighting for someone to understand PMDD. I drove six hours to see her and her level of empathy, comprehension of the condition, helping me understand the initial steps to combat made me feel seen.
I am happily recovering post op and can confidently say the WHRIA team saved my life.

Prof Eden is the doctor I saw for management of perimenopause. Can honestly say that it’s worth travelling any distance to see this specialist. I have been to GPs and gynaecologists, no one could help me until I saw Prof Eden. There are many choices available for perimenopause and menopause which was explained to me. There’s no need to suffer through this stage of life. I hope that the Prof will continue his great work for many years to come.

I have had the opportunity, the professionalism, skills and experience to facilitate long term chronic and acutely pain since he arrived in Australia and started practicing at a clinic in the Prince of Was Women’s Hospital so many years ago; in fact within the fist week of being on staff, he had to take a Laparoscopy procedure my doctor had started, but to her credit, realised that the reason I had was insistent on having a laparoscopy in the first place, was to help to finding the root cause of my issues and have a plan of action. Thankyou to Proff VanCaillie, I believe he saved y life that day being present in the theatre with his knowledge skills and experience showing through. The end result was one of my ovaries ended up having to be removed as it was attaching to my bowel causing a life threatening situation. Some two years later, the other ovary had to be removed due to a similar condition, I had no qualms in being referred back to Proff VanCaillie for the procedure.

Since that period of time, I started to experience some pelvic pain and have had colonoscopies as I was starting to experience increasing pelvic pain, and was placed on pain killers and managed my health concerns at the time, and sought the advice of a Nutritionist, as well as water based activity; all going reasonably well until I became aware of pain flare up (I will add at this point, that my husband and I had moved to Qld in mid 2000’s, and I was relying on the health system there). To the credit of my GP to try and help me find the root cause of my pain again, I was referred to a pain manager, who initially took me seriously; I was referred to a Psychologist to’talk to someone’ about my chronic pain, leaving me no closer to a potential root cause, or way forward; I asked for a refferal to Proff VanCaillie as I knew this was a medical professional who would help fine the root cause; after visitations, trying different medications. , and examination and minor procedures, I know have a team of dedicated professionals including Proff VanCaillie who, for the first time, in a very long time have assisted me not to feel so hopeless, eased my concerns, and listened to me if I had further issues or concerns.

I can take all my medical experience back with pelvic pain to the introduction of true medical professional, who just happened to be an observer in theatre, all those years ago. I have since had another minor procedure with Proff VanCaillie, and now know, that I may have nerve pain issues in my pelvic pain that between Proff VanCaillie and Proff Alister Corbett as my Neurologist, life is more manageable.

To those of you who didn’t find Proff VanCaillie the doctor for, because he didn’t pay the attention or urgency to your situation, make him listen; we don’t pay to go to a medical professional of Proff VanCaillie calibre to waste time, and yes, if there is a med student in the room, you need to be asked if you agree if they can stay for your consult, and their learning on the job experience (the med students are potentially our future medical professionals). The other point I want to make, is that If you have anybody that you are engaging to use their skills knowledge and experience, and you don’t think you have received or receiving value for money, then try somebody else. I wish you well; but I can honestly say, that when it comes to pelvic pain issues, chronic or accuse, I have the utmost trust in Proff VanCaillie, and know which med students put under his medical supervision will be well trained.

One last point, and it is not an excuse; we are all human, and on days we find ourselves perhaps not as pleasant or attentive as we are expected to be. Bring it to the attention of the professional/medical/person whom you are dealing with, and let them know expectations are not been met

I had my initial appointment with Dr Karen Chan yesterday and have been singing her praises to everyone I can. Best doctor I’ve ever seen in my life (and there’s been lots!). She is so genuine, empathetic, respectful, open, happy and friendly in demeanour. I felt completely at ease during her extremely thorough subjective and objective assessments. I would not change a thing about my experience with her and I walked out with a plan I was very happy with when previously I had been told that major surgery was the only answer. I highly recommend anyone looking for a Women’s Health specialist Gynae, laparoscopic surgeon and Pain specialist to see Dr Karen.
