Whiddon Beaudesert Star doesn’t deserve the title “Star” in their name when they don’t strive to uphold that. I did my work placement here last year and was treated poorly by staff, all because the staff didn’t like my mother who worked at Whiddom at the time. I had also heard from someone else who had done their work placement there that they also experienced poor treatment by staff. Not only that, but this person was also promised a spot to be able to work there after their placement. I had the same deal and was told afterwards that “We didn’t say that”. As well as, “You had a poor attitude towards staff as well as residents”, so that’s two so called reasons why I didn’t get hired. I strongly believe it’s also the fact that majority of the staff disliked my mother, because they would constantly bully her. It’s was extremely unfair and discriminatory! I hope Whiddon had pulled up the discrimination acts, because it is not right in any way what so ever for the people in charge to let their staff as well as themselves get away this sort of behaviour. In my time there doing work placement, I had also seen some staff members completely neglect residents when in need. It was absolutely disgusting! How would they feel if they were the residents, old and dependant on the care of the nurses in a home they’re living at for the rest of their lives?! I would strongly not recommend for anyone to work at Whiddon, do their placement or even live there. Something needs to be changed asap!

Whiddon Beaudesert Star is one of the best Aged Care Facilities I know. As an agency nurse, I’ve worked in many facilities across Qld, both public and private, and this one always stands out from the rest for its high quality in standards of care, the delicious, healthy meals prepared on site each day and the beautiful accommodation and grounds. From the amazing AINs and the rest of the nursing staff through to administration and management, the staff here genuinely care about the residents and go above and beyond to meet their individual needs and preferences, treating them like family. This is one of only very few places I’d consider good enough for my precious parents if they needed care.

I can't recommend the staff highly enough. With my Mother in law unable to return home from hospital the whole process was made so very easy. From my 1st point of contact to the staff that have been caring for her since. They have helped her settle in with ease and each visit she is smiling and telling us how great the staff are. When we visit the staff are friendly and helpful to our needs. She is now eating again too and said the meals are really nice. Big thumbs up to everyone there.

If you value your loved ones, do not take them to Star Gardens. My husband received very little compassion and no duty of care they espouse to. He had a chest cough and I would find him laying under a fan or with a window open and breeze coming in on him . He also said the meals were horrible so he stopped eating and little if anything was done for him. Suffice to say he died shortly after.

Cant thank staff enough. They are so good to the residents. Its a great place the residents are all well cared for food is lovely. Great outings and always something for the residents to do. My mum is very happy there.

Incompetent case management. They are unable to take their own blame and blame their clients instead. Don't return calls/emails, constantly losing emails and numbers. Bad people skill
