Dr. Peter Lackner has been compassionate and sensible with the care of my parents. My parents are at Cumberland Views Aged Care so mainly see him there but occasionally come to the clinic when they need additional services like zapping potential skin cancers with dry ice. I appreciate his straight-forward manner and feel confident with his recommendations. I especially appreciate that he does not easily prescribe heavy dose anti-depressants for elderly patients.

I would not recommend Dr LACKNER to anyone looking for a compassionate & caring GP. My father was his patient for many years & his lack of care & interest in my Dad’s health was extremely disappointing & not good enough.

Basically, because my Dad was a smoker and as a result he treated him like he was a waste of his time & failed to refer him to any specialists for a number of debilitating conditions until it was too late.

On one occasion when my Dad saw him after having lost a large amount of weight in a short period of time he made the joke, “I thought you’d be dead by now”. He probably thought he was being funny & my Dad never complained but it was beyond unprofessional.

He treated my Mum (who was Dad’s primary carer) with contempt & always made her feel uncomfortable.

His lack of empathy extended to the end when after my Dad passed away in hospital (where he spent the last 8 weeks of his life) he never once made contact to check on his condition yet had his staff ring my Mum two days after his death to remind him that he was late for a blood test.

I will say that the nurses & staff in the treatment room at Valewood Clinic were always excellent with my parents and took great care of them. As did Dr Selina LIM on the occasions that my Dad saw her.

It’s a pity that Dr LACKNER did not do the same. In our experience, he has very little interest in treating older patients with chronic conditions and we feel very let down by his lack of care & concern.

I have never left a comment like this about a medical professional before so that’s how strongly I feel about this. Your experience may be different and I hope that it is.
