I stayed in Sunnybank private for about 5days. Most of the nurses were nice but the last night was the worst. I was given my sleeping pill at 7:15 when I have it this early I can’t sleep during the night. I was given a sickness tablet that you can’t drink until 20 minutes after. Then the nurse tried to given more medication after this I had to explain I had to wait 20mins. I asked for a cup of tea, I walk with a walker and can’t carry a cup of hot tea. She was not happy with me. The nurses are not bad but you have the one or two that makes you feel bad to ask any of them. One had me crying. I felt like I didn’t belong.

They put me in a room with no working aircon.
I've had better facilities in a third world country hospital. A ward in a QH hospital would be better than this.
For a private hospital, this is a dog's breakfast.
And it does get better, they've clearly never cleaned aircon vents and there are signs of mould on the ceiling.

Maybe if managers didn't line their pockets with just performance bonuses and actually took care of maintenance, this review would've been positive.

On a positive side, I must say the Nurses in the Arvo shift Mary and Shaq along with their team leader finally managed to get a fan around 5pm and it gave some relief from the heat.

If I could give 5 stars for the crew, I would. But not for the room in the hospital

I cannot believe the lack of health and safety this hospital has towards there patients or even staff. The rubbish that is situated behind the hospital is disgusting. 🤢 This rubbish has been building up for months on end and no one will clean it up. Instead they just keep adding to it.

I was admitted to this hospital for a triple hernia repair. Let's just say I was looked after as soon as I stepped through the doors. Suffering panic attacks from bad hospital stays at other hospitals i was extremely apprehensive. However the nurses were first class taking excellent care of me. The room was lovely the whole experience was positive. A big thank you to the nurses in the surgical ward who took exemplary care of me it was greatly appreciated 👏.

Spent 2 nights after general surgery in ICU and nurse in charge during the next morning was Leanne I think. I heard her make a rather nasty complaint to other staff after the patient next to me thought a nurse had been rude by just asking to care for a different patient which I thought was fair enough as the patient was difficult and her whining drove me insane let alone as a nurse. Talking about other staff as an in charge person is not right and the nurse she spoke nastily about came and helped me during my first day was very polite, helpful and went out of her way to help me.

To make the hospital worse, I was told to get up and shower myself post surgery after being sent to surgical ward with no help when I staggered back to my bed and my husband told me I was covered in blood. Nurses had to be called three times and the female in charge of the hospital was so bluntly rude saying I was going back to surgery. My husband and horrified child were given no reassurance but turns out the surgeon had cut a major vein and not closed it properly so I was sent back to the horrid ICU who were so noisy that I was kept awake all night before going back to same ward next day where I was again just given towels and told to shower again without any assistance. I needed 2 bags of blood transfusions and the surgeon RETIRED that week. From nurses in charge, hospital bosses, uncaring and incompetent nurses I have had 9 operations and I would never ever recommend you have one at Sunnybank.

It is no wonder why they can’t get staff.

After having a PM nurse in the surgical unit who would not listen and dismissed my complaints with pain and the catheter, I would like to express my sincere gratitude and thanks to Nurse Leah who was working overnight. She listened and followed up and found a resolution that improved my pain. Thank you Leah for your empathy, compassion, dedication and kindness. You made the difference in my stay and i appreciate your dedication to the wellbeing of you patients.

All the wonderful nurses in recovery, they were absolutely amazing and attended to my every need with a smile on their faces. Everyone went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and safe. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Pat X (Surgical ward room 206.)
