This place is committing insurance fraud and stealing money from people who pay for it out of pocket. When we asked about the quality of care for my child they just so happen a week later decide they will discharge my child without doing any of the recommended therapy sessions that they said they offered before we admitted our child. Do not send your children here they do not help the children, the staff is unruly, rude and are young kids themselves so they can not stop a escalation, they will just let these kids fight before coming in to stop the issue

I absolutely recommend this Suncoast over all other places in Manatee County. The ONLY thing that I dislike is they don't keep track of your children's belongings. Every time my pick up my child they are missing clothes.

If I could negative stars I would. This place couldn't even follow simple ethics code or patients bill of rights. Palm shores (the sister company) is an even bigger risk. These poor kids....

Ive never written a review for anywhere before but I wanted to share my experience here. Hi I’m Chester I am 15 years old and I've struggled with depression and anxiety since I was 11
I was Baker Acted and sent to this facility in September and I stayed here for 5 days, Before I was transported from the ER to Suncoast I checked the reviews and to be honest they scared me a lot, but I’m happy to say this facility has saved my life.
I stayed in Treasure Island and all the nurses and patients were amazing, it was the first time in so long I felt actually understood
I’m in a better place now and while I still have some downs I can say I’m healing
Thank you to all the staff at Suncoast
P.S the corn bread in the cafeteria is incredible I miss it

Please for the love of god don’t send yourself or child to this facility. I have long-term psychological issues and other traumas from my stay at this place when I was 15 years old. (I am 20 years old now) I maybe had 2 two meaningful conversations with staff but other than that nothing. Doctors speak to you for maybe 3 minutes, and “group” was a joke. One nurse in particular was extremely rude to my family during visiting hours, and the treatment of children starting at 9 years old and above was absolutely disgusting. I understand there are certain protocols when dealing with people with mental health issues, but the ones I witnessed just were not right.

I want to share my experience, so that other parents don’t read these reviews and freak out the way I did. No one wants to hear the words “Baker Act” coming from a doctor concerning their child, but these reviews made my fear so much more amplified. My daughter was treated very well by all the staff. They were friendly and compassionate. The food was very good and her room was comfortable. My biggest complaint is that communication from her therapists and doctors was very poor. No one even spoke to me until the day her Baker Act expired at 72 hours and then they extended it. They released her 24 hours later. No one let me know how she was doing, professionally speaking. She was able to call me twice a day, which was a blessing. I hope this may calm another parents fears of having their child taken to a facility.

I wish I could put 0 zero stars but they don’t give us the option, this place has the most disrespectful and unprofessional doctors and nurses. They don’t know how to communicate and would rather act like they’re the parents instead of doing their job to get your child back home, even going as far as arguing with the parents over releasing the child or hanging up. While our child was in their custody they gave him some sort of shot over him simply talking but called and told us that he was being combative as an excuse for giving him the shot. If you care about your child’s well-being and getting the proper help they need do not take them here, they need to be shut down so no other child or parent has to deal with the abuse, negligence, and utter disrespect between the doctors and nurses of this establishment.

If you love your child don’t ever take them to this place. I recently had the unfortunate experience of seeking healthcare services from Suncoast Behavioral that displayed an appalling level of unprofessionalism and failed to deliver the standard of care I expected. It is disheartening to recount my encounter with this healthcare provider, but I feel it is crucial to share my experience to help others make informed decisions. Not only they failed to provide the services my daughter needed , they also neglected her ( gained 60 + pounds in less than 6 months which caused another health issue for her ) . There was no supervision at all times which also caused a legal issue for my daughter after getting in trouble with another peer … and the staff didn’t have the proper training for dealing with kids that have behavioral problems . In my opinion they only care about collecting money from the insurances … I’m looking into options to expose this place … also writing a complain to the Florida health department .
