Spending quite a bit of time as an in patient over the past 2 years I have found that some staff go way beyond their call of duty. I wish I could name the nursing staff who have looked after me and I don’t say that lightly. They really have looked after me. Yes there have also been some who are in it just for the money and not for the empathy of their patients. I would personally like to say thank you to the following staff from the Mental health ward. Be Bi La Ja Jo
Just having you all being here makes for my life to be so much brighter. The right words to say at the right time a simple smile in the corridor or an honest “how are you doing?” Heartfelt!!! thank you just doesn’t seem enough

My Experience at South Eastern Private Hospital
Post-Operative Care and Rehabilitation Journey
Introduction
From 6th May 2025 to 23rd May 2025, I was admitted to Southeastern Private Hospital for post-operative care and rehabilitation following my partial knee replacement procedure. During my stay, I was in the Cassia ward and received exceptional care from both the medical and support staff.
Medical Care
Dr. Lee
Dr. Lee was notably open to listening to my concerns and provided me with information that helped me navigate my post-operative care with confidence.
Nursing Care
The nursing staff were exceedingly caring and friendly. I quickly realized how central conversations with nurses are to a patient's well-being during the healing journey. Their excellent communication and empathetic approach greatly enhanced my recovery experience.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapists (OT) were present throughout my recovery to guide me through various stages of rehabilitation. Their expertise and support were instrumental in my progress.
Rehabilitation
Chiara and the rehabilitation team consisted of young professionals who added a fun element to the recovery process. They played our favorite music and transformed some exercises into competitive activities. It was enlightening to see how shared pain could break down barriers and foster a sense of community. Through these shared experiences, we all connected and supported each other, irrespective of age.
Conclusion
In conclusion, my stay at South Eastern Private Hospital gave me a profound sense of community, which was the highlight of my experience. The collective effort of the medical professionals and support staff contributed significantly to my healing journey, and for that, I am deeply grateful.
Feed back
As people from diverse backgrounds meet through the rehab program, it would be a good idea to have a 'social' or informal catch-up time post-dinner where individuals can come together to share life stories. This could positively influence the healing journey and also create an inclusive community. Such interactions would allow patients to bond over shared experiences, offer mutual support, and strengthen the sense of camaraderie that is vital for effective rehabilitation.

Dr Dan & the team at reception are extremely empathetic, kind people. I was extremely nervous on my first visit but immediately felt safe & heard by Dr Dan. My life has had a dramatic improvement which I cannot express how much gratitude I have. Please do yourself a favour & get Dr Dan’s support because the benefits for your life outweighs any other doubts you may have.

Highly recommended!
Dr Dan Mahesi was super professional, deeply knowledgeable, highly experienced, and excellent with his patient hands/bedside manner. Dr Mahesi takes the time to explain all aspects of condition, diagnosis, treatment, and roadmap at whatever level of depth/detail the client wants/needs.

Dr. Dushyanthi (Dushy) Tilakawardena
Decided to outright ditch me as a patient and was extremely condescending and non communicative when I was trying to explain significant issues (half body facial paralysis from medication wearing off and other neurological symptoms) I initially got referrals sorted that I was told were fine which they then said weren't the day of appointment because there isn't proper communication with reception. See someone else who actually cares considering psychiatry is extremely important and requires compassion and understanding.

I have been a patient in Cassia for 12 days and the care that I have received has been nothing short of excellent! From the time I arrived by ambulance I was greeted by the lovely Jess who said I had hoped it was you when I saw you coming and then some of the other nurses came to me and remembered me which from the start of your stay you feel very reassured! The Physio team is just so good and Amos and his team a huge thank you! The meals have been lovely too and when they get delivered the staff are all so nice. Jacky you certainly run a wonderful ward A huge thank you for looking after me and thank you Dr Daniel Lee for looking after me.

I have seen Dr Dan for my ADHD and could not recommend him enough. In an industry where patient’s progress is often haltered due to stereotyping, dismissive behaviour or feeling alienated, working with Dr Dan is the total opposite. He is patient, empathetic and enthusiastic. He caters to the treatment style that suites you, which makes you feel seen and heard. I’m am forever grateful I went here because it feels like I’ve finally got the support I needed to live happily with my ADHD.
