Complaint: Nurse Tracey

Surgical Ward Sholehaven Hospital

Wanted to inquire if my brother's doctor was available to speak to as the nurse from this morning told me to ask a nurse in the afternoon and they would be able to get a doctor to speak with me.

My brother pressed a button to call a nurse 15 minutes after he pressed the button a nurse by the name of Tracey walked in and snapped at him unpleasantly "Do you need anything!!" I spoke up and said I was hoping to speak to a doctor if possible and explained I was down from the central coast this weekend, she turned around abruptly with a glare and walked out of the room without a word, to a computer at which point I tried to continue to speak to her and she snapped at me again as I was trying to complete my sentence that it was "4pm!" in a tone that implied I was ridiculous to ask at this time of day.

I informed her she was being rude and appologiesed for asking, trying to explain that the nurse I'd seen in the morning when I was in had said the doctors would be here in the afternoon. She replied "Oh did she!!" As if the urse had had no right to say that or I was lieing. I told her I would be in in the morning if that helped and she snapped at me again that "It was a Sunday, and that wouldn't help!"

Perhaps no consideration that I was not familiar with the hospitals schedule. All in all it was her mannerism, tone and body language that was very distressing. She was irateat me. It felt like for no reason at all.

Thankfully Annette another nurse came to save the day and organised for a doctor to come and talk to us.

Tracey was rude, condescending and downright mean.

My brother has just come out of ICU and every nurse and doctor at Sholehaven has been absolutely lovely except for Tracey. I understand and respect hospital staff have a lot on their plate and sometimes work long hours but I have never observed such rude horrid unprovoked behaviour from a nurse in any other hospital. I am writing this formal complaint as I'd honestly dread to think she treats her patients the way she treated me today. She was very nasty and unprofessional and made a difficult situation even more upsetting.

My wife went to ED with GP referral letter for chest pain as GP suspended may be heart issue. She waited there for 4 hours, but none take any steps. When she asked, duty nurse took her inside for ECG, but after 5 minutes they told her to wait outside. Then she told duty nurse that she wants to go home because she is not feeling well, duty nurse told her very rudely that if she can’t wait then she can go because they are very busy and don’t have time for her.

I have never seen these kind of behaviour and treat from any other hospitals.

Hospital staffs are there to support the patients, instead they are not caring.

Went to the hosptial for testicular torsion (twice and still nothing done to fix it) and the nurses mocked my fiance because she had to put my socks on for me, was given a bed, was told to urinate in a cup in the bed with no bedpan, bucket or anything but a tiny as heck cup when I haven't been able to urinate for 5 days, I had to get my 5ft1 fiance to help carry me to the toilet because the staff were no help and apparently not wanting to lay in a bed soaked in urine meant I was fine so they moved me to a recliner (can sit straight or pain), then my mother called the hopsital because my phone was flat when I arrived there and the nurse who answered the phone made out I had nothing wrong with me and I was only there for pain killers, 6 hours later and I'd refused all pain killers and just wanted them to do their jobs that we pay taxes to pay their wages for, instead we were humilated and mocked by the staff.

I ended up walking out, still in excruciating pain, but I won't let some blonde intellectually deficient person that resembles a popular female childrens figurine mock my fiance. Shoalhaven Hospital needs to be fully audited.

I've never been in a town that the people avoid there hospital instead of getting help they prefer to go to there doctors or to even travel anywhere else but to there own hospital.

Don't get me wrong there is some wonderful staff that need a pay raise and some staff that just shouldn't be in that role.

My partner came in by ambo and was experiencing level 10 pain from someone who has a high tolerance in pain.

Ambo brought him up the nurses done blood and urine and gave him some pain relief, then let him be seated in the waiting room for 2 hours. There other people there, very dead looking behind the doors in the back... But still left to sit there. Ended up leaving coming home taking more pain relief and going to sleep to the morning to continue further treatment with his own doctor and travel to another hospital if necessary.

They did ring to see where he was also about a hour and a half later of being home.

I went to the emergency department on Monday, and was admitted for a infection. I was then taken to the maternity ward where I stayed until the Wednesday. The staff were amazing from the ED to the maternity ward, everyone was lovely and caring. Well done to all that looked after me.

Been sitting in the ED department now for over 7 hrs. It's now almost 3am. I've missed dinner. I'm in pain. I have stitches from a surgery that have torn open. Yet they are putting other people ahead who are literally walking out 5 minutes later. I guess they can't be that bad can they. The nurses behind the glass who are just sitting there and laughing could easily steri strip my torn open stitches and send me on my way, I guess discussing boyfriends and weekend plans is more important than caring for the patients in the ER. Absolutely disgusting system they run, for a sub par hospital. Nothing on qld health!
