My experience with Dr Shannon has been a pleasant one. I found him to be a gentle well spoken man. He explained things in detail and was happy to answer any questions and concerns I had. He suggested some treatment which unfortunately didn't work for me but was very apologetic. I was always given a easy to follow care plan before leaving. I would highly recommend Dr Shannon and his friendly team

Dr Shannon is a highly knowledgeable and very empathetic doctor. He truly cared about the impacts of my skin condition and understood how it could take away confidence. Dr Shannon provided clear, comprehensive care plans and always checked in about possible side effects of the medication I was prescribed. My skin is clear again and Dr Shannon seemed genuinely happy for me and explained next steps if necessary. I would highly recommend Dr Shannon if you are looking for an empathetic and kind dermatologist.

I had a terrible experience with Dr Jack Shannon and would not recommend him at all. From the moment I met him, he seemed to have already formed an opinion. He told me he "knew I would be difficult from the second he met me" and accused me of forcing him to put me on Accutane, even though he didn’t offer any real alternatives, other than a laser treatment he barely explained.

I’ve been on the medication for six days and started experiencing a rash, severe body aches, constant headaches, and other concerning symptoms. When I told him about these, he didn’t offer much reassurance or advice. He only suggested I stop the medication and later mentioned I might be allergic to the antibiotic he prescribed. I asked him some questions about what to do next — questions any worried patient would ask when experiencing a bad reaction, but instead of explaining things calmly, he called me "rude," "disrespectful," and "inconsiderate." I apologised, explaining I wasn’t trying to be difficult, just concerned for my health.

At that point, I started having an anxiety attack, and the nurse just told me that Dr Shannon "doesn't like questions" and that "he knows what he’s talking about." When Dr Shannon returned, he asked what was wrong while I was still crying, but just stared at me. He then told me that we weren’t a good match as doctor and patient, which I agreed with.

It was a very intimidating experience. I felt uncomfortable and scared in his office, especially when I had gone there in a panic after having a bad reaction to his suggested treatment. It’s unsettling to be treated like that by someone who is supposed to be a professional. I would definitely not recommend Dr Jack Shannon to anyone.

Firstly, to anyone reading to keep it simple and quick, I'd advise you to see anyone else if possible.

The first time I went to visit Dr Shannon I told him of my conditions, I suffered from Dermatitis my entire life, a family thing, that I had tried everything, cold baths, moist towels soaked in XYZ, certain diets, avoiding weathers, creams, shampoos, baths, playing golf with cricket bats, what ever, you name it, I probably tried it.

It's at the point where treating it becomes more problematic and time consuming than just dealing with the pain and using simple creams to keep it somewhat civil to enjoy life and spare time.

I saw Dr Shannon and mentioned this. I said I wasn't interested in treatments that were going to consume more life than give then mentioned my relatives were on Dupixent and it worked miracles and they were begging me to give it a shot.

As soon as I mentioned that, Dr Shannon stared blankly at me. After about 10 seconds of staring the pentium 3 ticked over in his head and entangled to finally give a response.

Something along the lines of "do you know how much that costs taxpayers?"

I was like, what? No? (Who would know this? Am I at a specialist for treatment or my tax office?)

After some rambling he left the room to get me to fill in a document to show my symptoms

Was a little strange, but so be it. (meanwhile my face is literally just falling off)

I filled it out, then Dr Shannon came back, he stared at me again with the pentium look, and said something about tax costs, it felt as though he was implying I wasn’t worth the money or something. Honestly, it was strange.

Anyways, after that I got an injection and the prescription and was happy to get out of there.

I jumped into my car (ironically, which I can afford because my tax payout is 20x the cost of this drug) and drove off into the sunset to get the best known treatment for my skin condition.

After a few months, me being a dumb ass lost my paper script, and since Dr Shannon doesn’t bother doing E-Scripts I had to call up for a new one and pay(?) another fee to have it processed. Not a big deal honestly, but it is 2025, you would think they would utilize mobile services and other internet related systems by now. I guess Dr Shannon is a boomer too.

I was already a few days out due to holidays and other things, I went to Blooms/Chemist Warehouse and another over the 2nd January week when I had time, they all mentioned their supplier currently didn’t stock the item, not that they can get the item in X time.

That was strange but I read online about contracts being signed in 2024 dec after a massive influx of use cases which might have been why there was stock issues around jan etc. I had organized holidays remotely there and was kind of screwed which made the effect wear off and I kind of moved on from it with self treatment as its effect had basically stopped at that point.

It came back hard recently and I wanted to give it another shot after reading some more on this and seeing news etc.

I went there today, I entered the room and he leaned against the bed and had that weird blank Dr Shannon stare others seem to mention. I could tell he was angry and I had no idea why.

I explained to him my dilemma, then he implied I was a liar, that it didn’t happen, everything I had been saying about it not being in stock at that point wasn’t true like he had solved some big mystery (a Dr Shannon delusion I guess).

Afterwards he told me I should see another specialist which I happily said sure, he then wrote more weird things in that too implying I wasn’t compliant? Then he gave me the script, so I guess i wasn't wrong? I don't know.

So basically Dr Shannon got upset that I couldn’t get my injections from a couple of large chemists likely due to the contractual changes in December or demand issues and got angry at me for it.

Anyways, it was weird as fuck but the drug itself is great.

Dr Shannon comes with my highest recommendation. I had a skin condition previously wrongly diagnosed and suffered for nearly three years. Dr Shannon started with tests etc to make sure his diagnosis was correct and started me on a treatment plan that has been highly successful. I could not be happier, he has given me back a normal life. He has always treated me with respect and taken into consideration any of my concerns. He has been only too happy to answer any questions and his habit of giving written follow up to the patient has been great. His staff are excellent and always very helpful.

As others have said, the $280 consult fee for 10 minutes is unreasonable. I came in with high hopes, and Dr Shannon recommended me 3 products to use. I used these products for over a month, and my skin actually got worse! After going back, Dr Shannon said my only option was to go on Roaccutane (which I was hesitant about as I don’t have super extreme acne and I’ve heard of some negative side effects).

I asked Dr Shanan about possible alternatives and/or changes I could make in my lifestyle such as a healthier diet etc. and he said there isn’t any and that they ā€œdon’t know what causes acne for sureā€.

Since then, I’ve tried multiple other treatments and implemented other natural processes into my lifestyle that are less extreme and my skin is a lot better now.

In saying this, I feel as though Dr Shanan could assist people with severe acne cases, however in my circumstance, his ideas/methods didn’t work and I found it unnecessary to go on an intense medication.

Sharing my mixed review. I first saw Dr Shannon about 9 months ago, I found him to be kind, caring and sympathetic. I always left with an action plan and often a follow up text message before my next appointment.
However, with my particular condition I was not getting better, I did express this each visit but was met with a 'wait and see' approach. Eventually I sought a second opinion only to find out I never had to 'suffer' for so long, that the original prescribed medication should have just been doubled and I would have got better quicker. I also never had to go on cytotoxic medications (and give up breastfeeding my 4 week old baby).
As soon as I started the higher medication I was better within weeks.
I only wish Dr Shannon had of realised this earlier so I was not left as physically damaged as I am now and also how I am traumatised by all this whole experience.
