I was a patient here last summer and still have nightmares about my 3-4 weeks there. It was under/poorly staffed. The highlight was that Jody knew his stuff, and treated me like a human being. Unfortunately there was only one of him in charge of the entire wound care facility. I took plenty of pictures what my wound looked like and the degradation of my skin. I was left to lay on a bed with no linens for hours. There were a few standout staff members but all in all they were very understaffed and it was noticeable. I do not recommend this facility at all.

My husband was in a terrible motorcycle accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury. The staff at Select Specialty all worked very hard not only to help improve my husband's medical stability but actually showed they cared about him not just as a patient but as a person/our loved one. The doctors, nurses, therapists and his 1:1 sitters were all so kind and helpful. They never made our family feel like a burden. Thank you Select! (The only thing I wish had not happened was having the Social Worker suggest Encompass as my husband's next place for rehab as it was a horrendous experience.)

Rated a 0, No I do not recommend Select Specialty. I recommend you go elsewhere.
Mandatory classes for listening, compassion, empathy, communication and over all human kindness!
Poor staffing is a recipe for organizational stagnation and decline!
Toxic management creates a toxic workplace that no one wants to be a part of!
Stop using temporary services. Your dealing with humans not car parts.
Every health facility should be detailed cleaned.
Period !
Cleanness stops germs, bacteria and the spread!
Use air freshener for god sakes your dealing with human feces.
Mandatory hand washing NOT sanitizer, for all, including Aides and expectally after de-gloving from cleaning feces.
A lack of empathy as a case manager, manager, therapist, nurse, and even an aid is one of the worst toxic traits primarily because this quality lays the foundation for other bad behaviors...fire them.
Being to comfortable at your position is a red flag. You should never be comfortable with treating others poorly, fire them.
Visiting hours 9 to 7 needs changed its 2024 you should be able to visit anytime 24/7. Especially if the patient agrees.
Send the Physician, NP and other staff in the rooms to speak to patients and families. Not in hallway...Your charging the insurances for it. Charged over 1 million dollars for 45 days to my father's insurance with lies. No NP spent 45 minutes to 1.5 visiting my dad. Insurance fraud.
Send out a sympathy card to those that have passed at your facility..its human kindness!
Send a thank you card to those that made it out of your facility alive! They fuel your salary.
CEO'S you should step up. Your facilities are poor.
Your staff is undereducated and zero compassion.
Your patients are suffering.
Go down your hallways do they look happy, clean or even informed.
My father gave up and died at this location and I hope this saves someone else's life.
Chief Complaint officer Don't message me , I've already spoke to CEO and Management and Case Worker with ZERO satisfaction and will not repeat my situation.
Read charts, when you teach staff to document.

Treatment through the therapy program was awesome. I have never met more caring individuals that motivated you and pepped you up to get you moving. I absolutely loved everyone in the therapy department! The doctors were wonderful and very thorough. Most of the nurses were great too!

For future patients n their families. Below are a number of observations that I have experienced at this facility at auburn avenue .
1. Neuro injury pt . This facility do not have the capability to do continuous EEG 2. Neuro consults are only available
3. Patients may not get follow up appointments once they are there. I was told by SW tht my hubby doesn't need follow up appointments for his neurologist . Charge Nurse Teresa said he can go after he get discharged from this facility! It's the 21st century. This is America n this facility cannot afford for telehealth .
4. This facility claimed that they can accommodate Peritoneal dialysis patients . That's inaccurate. If nurses cannot troubleshoot pd catheter problem n do not know how to flush manually a pd cath then they should not accept PD patients at all even if pts are on cycler .
5. Chief nursing officer claimed that gentamicin cream used for PD cath is not a preventative measure . We do not need to wait for infection to occur . Prevention is preferable. All peritoneal dialysis patients use antimicrobial cream at exit site .
6 . The Dr at this facility has no clue how to examine an exit site of a peritoneal dialysis patient . She used gloves n touch the exit site . I have worked with 6 nephrologist n not even one had ever touch exit site of a pt even with clean gloves . Clean gloves are not free from micro organism.
7. There s lack of communication n coordination between staff . SW gave a date for my hubby to get discharged while NP was working with me to resolve some pending issues. It looks to me SW has a higher authority to decide when Pt get discharged .
8. Some nurses do not use medication cup some nurses use med that's been dropped on the floor n even use patch that's been accidentally thrown in dustbin. Basic nursing anything on the floor is dirty .
9. Hubby was transported to an appointment without medication list no transfer paperwork at all no history no diagnosis .
10. Mychart system is nonsense . No info on medication list provider notes or even eeg interpretation. Even up to the day my hubby got transferred my chart issue has never been resolved .
11. It's wrong to discharge a patient if patient is having fever even if it's low grade fever . My hubby was having fever n yet he was transferred to nursing skilled facility. The next day my hubby was transferred to ER due to infection . This is reckless n irresponsible discharge.
12. However , there are some staff who are outstanding in their duties n perform their responsibilities that gives assurances n relief to me that my hubby is safe under their supervision. NP Stephanie Alicia Don RT in fact all the RT are great , Sara PT n I don't remember the names of other staffs some are remarkable .
13. The population that are here at LTAC select speciality are here cause they have no choice . But the staff do have a choice .So please do your job truthfully . Just because patients are critically ill doesn't mean anybody should take advantage of their inability to speak for themselves.

Truly a healing place. From the reception desk, nurses, aides, respiratory to the brilliant nurse practitioner Stephanie, you will get superior care. I trust my handicapped daughter with their care and loving support. Thank you Select Care!

My mother wound up at the one on Auburn Ave. Shes out at home now. While my family cant speak to others experience's we can definitely say we do NOT recommend Select Specialty.
While there are a few decent staff, most are terrible. I wouldn't hire most of them to treat my dog for fleas let alone a human being for anything health related.
They were constantly late with her meds. They dont like questions about your loved ones health care, asked by you the family or the patient. They also lie about medications. The staff kept telling my Mother she couldn't have her regular breathing medications that she takes at home because there was a shortage. Miraculously when she was transferred back to Christ hospital she was put back on her regular medications. We didn't have a problem getting her normal breathing medications from her pharmacist either and when we asked both Christ and the Kroger pharmacy about the shortage they flat out stated they didn't know who told us that but there was NO shortage as far as they were aware.
Their 3rd shift is ATROCIOUS. My Mother informed me they don't answer their call buttons and ignore the patients. They come in long enough to give meds (late I'll add) and take stats.
The Social Worker Saundra and the Nurse Practitioner Stephanie both need to take courses in how to communicate with people. Any questions that you ask they automatically take offense to because it bruises their over inflated egos.
The Agency nurses that they use are just as rude and condescending. Weekend nurses do NOT update the white boards and outside of PT and OT NONE of the staff announce who they are when they come in the room.
While Select Specialty is NOT a part of Christ Hospital, if I were Christ Hospital I would definitely re-think letting a dump like Select Specialty operate within my building.
To the owner you CAN SAVE your auto reply to your reviews. You have absolutely NO CONTROL over your staff and our family has had enough lip service from the likes of you and your staff. You're in it for the money and that alone. You and your staff have proven to my family you dont care about your patients and for the most part you pick the low hanging fruit for your staff.
To others considering this place, dont be fooled by that 4.5 rating, we were and ended up regretting it.
