I was very disturbed by today’s visit. Doctor Thatcher was assigned to see my 12 year old daughter. We just arrived to Au from USA and my daughter needed a Dr note for school for her food allergies. I also let the Dr know my daughter experienced migraines about 2x a month. She asked me if she’s medicated for it. I told her no and that it runs on my side of the family and some even had MRI’s but everything came back clear. She advised putting my healthy child on a very small dose of medication that treats 5 different illnesses- I only remembered 2.... depression and high blood pressure. I was in total shock! Our pediatrician In the states said there’s no treatment for migraines and did recommend calcium magnesium tablets because it helps for some migraine sufferers ( didn’t in our case- we tried) but never has a dr ever recommended such drastic measure without ever checking for high blood pressure or even questioning her about depression. There was no medical history form to fill out or anything. I told her we aren’t interested and said we come from a family of doctors and nurses and we try to avoid medication unless it’s absolutely necessary. I told her if it was an herb maybe I would consider, she replied “that is a chemical too!”
In USA when a patient comes to a dr or a dentist, no matter what, the Dr always checks blood pressure ( yes, even kids), mouth, eyes, and ears. She didn’t even touch her but sure recommended a drug that she didn’t need. Three hours later, I’m sick to my stomach and very disappointed. We are not coming back.
