I had been diagnosed with a variant of Stiff Person Syndrome affecting my left lower limb firstly ,then now slowly moving up the body and causing left arm dysfunction as well, by my very supportive Neurologist and team of Allied Health Professionals two and half years ago. I have had immunoglobulin therapy and allied health support which have been excellent but my condition has continued to deteriorate as is the nature of SPS with loss of movement in the left lower leg and tone and spasms becoming more of an issue and not managed well.
Fortunately I have a background in allied health and knew of the great work Dr Saul Geffen was achieving with his SPS and movement dysfunction clients.
My first review I thought would be brief but Dr Geffen did the Ultrasound Botox guided injections straight away on my moderate to severe focal spasticity in the lower leg allowing me to prevent my foot drop and lift my foot that the spastic muscles had held back from working. My falls have decreased greatly and my 6 minute walk test has increased by 25 % in 3 months.
I saw him again for more injections recently.
Dr Geffen is no nonsense and honest and works with you as your medical problem arise to help improve your independence. He also has a team of Health Professionals to help care for your needs as a whole person.
I am so grateful to be able to access the QRS team under Dr Geffen's care.
