I have attended yoga teacher training and had 1:1 sessions with Rachel Nokes at Ray of Light over the past five years. Rachel provides excellent training and support for deepening your individual yoga practice. All of her offerings come from over 20 years of her own dedicated practice, education and self study. She provides an authentic, true experience of the essence of yoga in a safe, non-judgemental, trauma informed approach. If you would like to delve more deeply into the heart of yoga, than Rachel is the teacher for you. Her India yoga retreats are a once in a lifetime experience as well, authentic, fun and a peek into the rich culture of India. Thank you!

I recently returned from a yoga retreat with Rachel to northern India and the experience was life changing. Rachel set the conditions for a full immersive retreat using her extensive knowledge, skills and connections then allowed India and the yoga to do the unfolding. Some of the highlights included: a transcendental front row experiences to Hare Krishna temple in New Delhi; Arti with thousands of devotees on the banks of the Ganga in Haridwar; spontaneous Kirtan sessions with my fellow travellers AKA soul family; daily puja and mouth watering vegetarian meals with the beautiful people in the Johari house Haridwar, numerous market place adventures and yoga on a secluded beach by the Ganga, tiger tracks in the sand surrounded by the towering foothills of the Himalayas. I could go on and on….I can’t wait to go back!

I’ve just completed a yoga teacher training with Rachel and it has been such a wonderful experience. The teachings and structure of the course were so well put together and Rachel as a teacher, is so welcoming, grounding, calming and so captivating!! Couldn’t recommend Rachel enough. I am so grateful to have found her as a teacher and friend, and this training so close to home.

I am so pleased to have signed up with the Foundations Yoga Teacher Training Course with Ray of Light Yoga & Counselling. I am very new to yoga, and as a busy mum of 2 energetic little ones I wanted to create a space to nurture myself when I signed up to learn with Rachel. I am half way through the course and am really enjoying the multifaceted approach to learning and engaging with yoga. It is great to be able to experience the physical practice of yoga, and become attuned to how this impacts my mind, body and soul and the ripple effects this has as I move about my life and interact with others. I have been able to create space to nurture and reconnect with myself through my learning and application of the different yoga practices. I can use a mix of all of the different tools; chanting, breath work, yoga practice, aryuvedic cooking, study and reflection.

I look forward to the 4 days and 3 nights each month to immerse myself in more learning, yoga practice and friendships I have developed with the other students and with Rachel and Mick (aka Head Chef Extraordinaire!) They have a beautiful home in such a luscious green leafy location by the beach. Its just an incredibly beautiful place to relax and feel everything is taken care of. Amazing nurturing food is cooked for us, comfortable accommodation with everything we need.

I can't wait to see what offerings I create for others once I have completed the course. I'm so grateful to be learning from Rachel, with her many years of experience. She is grounded, funny, warm, kind and wise. She has a special gift for bringing people together and creating a positive learning environment for various learning styles. She fosters meaningful connections with each of her students and has helped us to build together as a group at different stages of life and careers.

If you are thinking of learning about yoga, or just need some quiet time away to relax and feel nurtured, Ray of Light Yoga & Counselling have really thought of everything. Go on, treat yourself - you deserve it 🙂

Rachel is a highly skilled, knowledgeable and compassionate yoga teacher and over the last 3 years has been a mentor and support to me through my own teaching path. Her trainings are delivered with heart and have given me the confidence to better understand the richness of yogic philosophy and how to bring it into my teachings. I have undertaken many trainings with her, all which have helped me to deepen and embody my own personal practice with greater ease. Some of these trainings were - Advanced Yoga Teacher Training, Pranayama trainings, Sanskrit courses, Philosophy courses and Befriending Your Nervous System.
I recently returned from an incredible 2 week trip to North India under Rachel's care, which has truly been a life changing "bookmark moment" in my life.
I also recently participated in a Sangha Yoga Teachers Retreat at her Long Beach home and studio. It was a restorative weekend of connecting with other teachers, sharing the practice and our crafts in a supportive empowering way, amongst the serene landscape of her Long Beach studio.
I look forward to more time connecting with and learning from Rachel.
