QAL have built this lookout and it’s very neat and tidy. Large green space, but there is the industrial smell.
However, this lookout captures how large the Alumina industry is and how many workers would be working there.

QAL is a workers paradise. Support team is impeccable. I have heard nothing but positive thoughts and feelings from the staff and contractors who work for QAL. There is a petting zoo, whales and dolphins can be fed from the wharf between 9am and 9.30, 1pm - 1.30pm (bookings are a must) QAL has its own golf driving range on site which faces toward Boyne Smelter. Rumor has it anyone able to send it into the smelter get's a fee Yaralla yearly pass (unconfirmed) Hot meals served daily and nightly for AO1 and below, free coke for anyone with a current union pass. Billiard tables in the crews cribs, darts each night 6.30 to 7pm. There is a weekend bar which only serves softdrink, QAL owned Mr Whippy van drives around site on Sunday handing out free ice creams. The atmosphere inside the plant is next level, Every one is happy and smiling and it's better than being at home with a wife.
