It has been identified that this procedure has been performed whilst there has been no supporting framework within the hospital.

“As such, the (Local Health) District is now looking at what this might look like moving forward and until such times, this procedure does not currently sit within Queanbeyan Hospital’s delineation.”

What exactly does this mean. Bureaucratic gobbledegook at its most unintelligible.

Queanbeyan Hospital staff (doctors and nurses) have been absolutely fantastic for the delivery of my son and whilst I was in hospital with blood clots on the lungs. They can not be faulted in any way.

However, be aware that if the bed manager offers to transfer you to a private hospital promising that there will be no out of pocket expenses she is being dishonest. Make sure you confirm in front of a witness what is said so you have proof of the dishonesty and advise your local member of parliament if this occurs to you.

The maternity section is amazing. Fabulous experience. The ED is hit and miss. The number of staff to patient ratio is way lacking when it is busy. Unfortunately both times Ive needed ED this was the case l, 4+ hour wait. I understand ED's have a triage system, but i was there for a genuine emergency service (IV antibiotics for an infected wound with a fever), and waited over 4 hours with other people being seen within 15 minutes. Family members have however been seen within minutes. Maybe just luck with how busy it is but it is really too small for the area it services now.

In contrast to the general reviews, I haven't waited for too long whenever I visited the emergency or the imaging section. The attending doctors and receptionists were very considerate as well. The nurses can be a bit "how u going" but that's not very concerning, as they get the job done regardless.
It's a small and clean facility with limited amount of staff. Comparing it to Canberra hospital isn't fair really, as regardless of how close they are, at the end of the day it's still a small hospital for a small regional city of NSW. With that perspective, they do alright. I have been to emergency departments of other main cities in Australia and what the patients go through there is way worse.

Had a shoulder stabilisation surgery - all theatre/ward nurses were fantastic and friendly, and the Surgeon was great.

Had a very average and poor experience with the admin/surgical booking team on many occasions toward the lead up of my surgery. I initially consulted and booked the surgery in with the Doctor in September 2023 for a February 2024 operation date, I had contacted the hospital in November 2023 to confirm in which they first advised me they did not have me booked in for any surgery at all Instead of confirming with the Doctor, they put me in a random slot in February - in which they further did not decide to confirm the date with the Doctor until 3 DAYS prior to the surgery in 2024 where they found out their bookings did not line up and I had to wait another 2 weeks. This was extremely frustrating as I had already planned and sorted all my work leave, commitments and assistance required post surgery which I had to reschedule. The admin team were not apologetic at all and did not care or address their mistake and in the inconveniences caused.
Before I went into theatre the admin team confirmed the family member to contact once I had come out of surgery - they did not contact any family member at all and were completely unaware I'd completed surgery.
As I left the hospital I passed the admin staff and they acknowledged I was leaving and did not request for me to do anything/sign any documents upon leaving - within 5-10min of driving home I was contacted by the hospital to return as I ''had not signed my discharge papers''. Inconvenienced again, I returned and the staff were not apologetic at all again and were simply not paying attention when I was leaving.

Overall - surgery went extremely well and great, but the admin/surgical booking staff were poor to deal with and lacked basic customer service.

Ella, and the entire team (only mention Ella as didn't get all the names) were honestly great! Super helpful and friendly. Don't want to say we'll be back but if we had to return couldn't want any better people.

Denies abortion despite having no right to do so. A single star is too generous for a hospital denying women access to healthcare.

Shame on you turning away a 14week pregnancy for TOP. Public hospitals perform abortions. “Abortion is legal in Australia, but doctors say an ‘unspoken ban’ is robbing women in regional and rural areas of the right to choose” ABC reporter Lucy Barbour 30/10/2024 1100 am.
