15yo son had a decent head knock at school, decent lump etc, walked in with no appointment and was seen to immediately. The staff on reception were fantastic as was the Dr. who checked him over and advised next steps/symptoms to be wary of. Would recommend highly to anyone...

Dr. Elizabeth and Dr. Niluni are thoughtful in their diagnoses, ensuring all aspects are carefully considered. They communicate clearly with their patients, offering valuable treatment and advice. The reception staff are courteous and professional, contrary to a few negative reviews, which likely means those individuals are no longer with the practice.

Not surprised to see all the negative reviews posted about the rudeness of the reception staffs. Don’t want to waste time typing out my recent bad experience, it’s just too upsetting. Will be going to somewhere else after years of visits. If you’re reading this, avoid this place.

Firstly. It’s not all bad. Secondly, it’s mostly bad. Went in on the recommendation of a friend - I have a recently diagnosed heart condition and hunting for a good GP I would build a long term health management relationship with. The short version is I felt there was a bias towards over medicating patients rather than listening to patients experiences or focus on overall strategy for health management. The final straw was the GP contradicting the instructions of my cardiologist, using the line: “They must have confused you with a different patient”. This hubris seems flow onto some of the receptionists’ behaviour which often felt akin to hypersensitivity meets vindictive- you dare question them on the slightest of concerns you might have and then they will find underhanded ways to make your life difficult. So childish.

We have been attending this practice since 2014 and we were very happy with the care provided from the doctors and rapport built with front desk. We have a young family and sometimes when the kids were very sick with a high temperature we would call and the receptionist would consult the doctor and fit us in. However, over the last two years this place has gone to the dogs. The receptionist staff used to be lovely and now they are unbelievably rude, condescending and plain horrible. They should be absolutely ashamed of themselves and the way they speak to patients and on top of that hand out medical advice - since when did they attend medical school for that. Just 2 days ago, my son had a high temperate of 38.9 and was sent home school, my husband called and they said "we can't fit you in" and why don't you bring the temperature down and then call us and we will see. Common sense would say all parents would bring it down but they didn't even talk to our GP. Just handed out their own advice and in the end we found another medical practice which understood that small child was sick.
Furthermore, Nicole [who is the head nurse] is extremely good at her job but she is always rude, condescending, and speaks to patients like they are second class citizens. What right does she and receptionists have to do this. The doctors are good apart from Dr Dang who didn't provide proper care on some occasions a few years ago even when asked for it which resulted in having to go to someone else. This may prompt to report the lack of care and basic human kindness to the authorities as this is a family medical practice.

Putney Medical Practice is amazing! They have helped my family so much and we are so thankful. Dr Darshini, Dr Dang and Nurse Nicole go beyond to provide us with so much help. Highly recommend this wonderful practice!

Not recommend at all. I came to see one of the GP for Conjunctivitis and sore throat due to flu virus. The doctor did some quick checks and issued a prescription of eye drops. The whole appointment took about 3-5 mins. Guess what? I was charged for the long consultation fee of $120. According to their website , Level C long consult should be 20-30 mins. So I questioned how they define long consult as my appointment only takes less than 5 mins.I can tell the receptionist was quite unhappy and said “You’ll get half rebate from Medicare “ I was like “I know, but I’d still like to know how you define a long consult.” She’s like “I don’t know! The doctor said so.” I was quite speechless. I don’t think I’ll come back again . It really not worth it.

Feel really sad to write this review, but I wish I was better informed. My family have been coming to this practice since it moved from carlingford and have seen a massive decline in the quality and professionalism of the receptionist staff and accessibility to healthcare. While the doctors are great, the experience of dealing with reception staff has been appalling. I have had experiences where they have been rude/dismissive, lacking in compassion and unkind. It feels like this is becoming more frequent with more and more negative experiences. This practice is going downhill.

There are also lots of rules that no other medical practice has which hinder accessibility. Why on earth you need to present a Medicare card every time baffles me- this is the only practice I have ever been to who doesn’t keep that on record. Ironically even the GP National practice standards state Medicare cards aren’t a patient identifier that is meant to be used as some people are on multiple cards, so why it is so heavily impressed at every appointment makes no sense. I have been turned away or rudely spoken to when I have been so unwell that I forgot my wallet with my medicare card. We have also been turned away from getting essential vaccinations for our son who has been to the practice with us before. We had a record with this practice, they knew our circumstances and the way we were treated was rude and uncaring.

I’ve also witnessed how rude reception staff have been to other people. Breaking point for me was seeing how rude staff were to a mother is distress whose son was unwell.

I hope there is some serious culture change, no one needs to be treated so unkindly when seeking health care. We know there has been a change of ownership and the decline in patient centred care with an increased focus on profit above healthcare is apparent.

Please do better for the people who rely on this practice! This community needs a supportive space for healthcare
