I went to Currimundi woman’s health clinic to consult a doctor who specialised in woman’s health. I was given a consult with Dr Emily .
Dr Emily was lovely and very patient with me but I learnt she was a female doctor not a doctor who specialised in woman’s issues. She has been in practise for a very short time. When I mentioned this to her due to my being so uncomfortable, she advised that there was one female doctor only there who had significant experience in this field .
I was told my test results would take
24 to 48 hours to be back by the reception staff but told 7 days by Dr Emily. 7 days later no results, I rang every day and was given excuses by the staff and they would chase up, which they did. There was always a different reason from the pathologist, none of them making sense only giving me more reason to worry. I rung every day for the next 3 days until finally success my results came thru. On the Friday I spoke to the receptionist 3or 4 times that day as she could not get a straight answer from the pathologist.. Again I was told by the receptionist that she was surprised as result should have been back within 48 hours and it was unusual and yes she was aware of the types of results that I was waiting for.
I finally got the results back Friday afternoon, I had waited ten 10 days for the results and I wonder if I hadn’t been chasing up the results, would they have ever come through. I told the receptionist that I would like the tests results if possibly that afternoon as I had already waited 10 days and did not want to go another weekend without hearing. I was having pain so the results were of a concern to me.
I got a call from Dr Emily late Friday afternoon and a course of treatment was recommended and accepted.
Monday morning I receive a text from Currimundi doctors advising me I had an outstanding account and to contact them to arrange payment. I immediately rang the surgery and was asked by them if I had book a tele consult. I had not booked one and did not know receiving the results was classed as a consult. I just presumed it was the thing doctors did if there was something to discuss. I stated this to the receptionist and she said she would look into.
Tuesday morning I received another message advising me the account was to be paid. So I paid it.
I did receive correspondence from them about a week later saying they would refund my money if I provided them with bank details. Who gives their bank details from an email requesting them with all the scams these days. A phone call would have been nice and respectful. They also only offered me a refund when they read my unfavourable review otherwise I would have been ignored. Not a good way to conduct a business
Will not go back there.
All in all the entire experience was not one I would recommend and encourage.
In April 2024 I tried to get MY medical results sent to another practice and Currumundi want me to get the other practise to request them by letter and I have to sign that letter. Not a patient friendly system, especially if you don’t want to go back to them.
