After utilising several family psychologists over many years for my children and feeling very defeated and deflated, Sarah was appointed for our matter. She is the most hands on, informed professional whilst dealing with a very stressful family court matter. My children were always very comfortable with Sarah - she has a very genuine caring manner and is an expert in her field and very highly regarded in the family court system. We found Dr Angel to be professional, kind, caring and an asset to child counselling services. Dr Angel counselled my daughter for anxiety and separation issues very successfully. The consideration and the depth of understanding shown by Dr Angel made my daughter completely at ease. The fact that my daughter is now doing so well at school and her positive behaviour is a credit to Dr Angel.
In addition, Dr Angel was able to help us negotiate a parenting plan that was beneficial for both parties, child focused and we were satisfied with the outcome. Our circumstances were quite complex, however Dr Angel was able to navigate complicated issues with complete aptitude and professionalism. I would thoroughly recommend this psychologist.

I do not recommend this psychologist. My daughter saw her over a year of sessions recommended to help her in her complex relationship with her father. My daughter is still traumatized by the experience, and her relationship with her dad did not really improve. While Dr Angel seemed to be sympathetic when speaking to my daughter, she turned around and said the opposite things to her father, which was very confusing to a child. My daughter ultimately felt pathologised by the process. It didn't help that Dr Angel also came late to every session.

I would not recommend this professional. Firstly, within several hours of posting my original review, Sarah Angel emailed me with a range of threats and implied threats of legal action to remove my post. She stated my review was “highly vexatious, defaming and has a potential negative impact on my professional reputation and future client referral to my business” and “I will be pursuing legal avenues to seek the removal of this review and potential compensation”. She did not advise what element of that review was a problem, there was no request to amend the review, and no attempt to understand what my issues are. She also advised that me correctly identifying what car she drives (not difficult given the personalised plates of a nearby parked car) “may indicate stalking behaviour which may warrant police involvement".
So, my sanitised review is based on my personal experience with Sarah Angel, that includes the following. I took my 10-year old child to see Sarah. When Sarah introduced herself to us, she immediately undermined my authority as a parent in front of my child. I specifically asked my child in front of Sarah to wait for me inside the office while I was being interviewed but Sarah Angel ignored that request and told my child she could choose to remain on the front veranda – unsupervised and on a busy main road. She did not first even check if my child was at risk of running away or self-harming. Next, Sarah spoke to me for less than 30 minutes on the first session and then never asked me for any further observations or to confirm anything my child was saying in confidential sessions. Even when I attempted to make an appointment to address serious concerns I had about her (Sarah's) conduct , she seemed to be unavailable for me, not even for a telephone call. Yet she made so many determinations and recommendations. Over the eight month period of seeing Sarah Angel, my child's issues only worsened.
Her approach made me wonder just how much text books alone can ensure fully understanding the issues my child faced .
