I was an in-patient President Private Hospital for 7 weeks, and have great appreciation for the staff and care I received. After an accident resulting in multiple fractures in three limbs, and surgery in a regional hospital I was told I would be totally bed-ridden for 6 weeks, then need a long rehab process to learn to walk again - as an active adult this was a devastating situation to be in!

After being transferred to PPH, the physios designed a program to strengthen what muscles I was allowed to use, and I believe this is why when I was eventually able to weight-bear then my recovery went a lot faster than originally expected. The physios continued to tailor a program for my particular combination of fractures, and I was able to go home two weeks after beginning to learn to walk again.

All the staff were very caring and encouraging - the nurses, physios, OTs, admin staff, the cleaners and kitchen staff. From when I was learning to walk again until I was discharged, they were like a cheer squad, encouraging me with every bit of progress I made.

After discharge I attended the day rehabilitation program as they continued to work with me. All the staff there were just as helpful and patient with my many questions.

I finished there a month ago, and the comments I get from medical people now about how well my recovery has gone is a testament to the caring and professional care I received at PPH as both inpatient and outpatient.

My 86 year old father was recently a rehab patient at President Private. The care and compassion both he and my mother received whilst there were exceptional. It is not easy dealing with people at a vulnerable and emotional time and all the staff we encountered in both Wings were all so kind and caring. In particular, Dorcas and Grace handled my Dad's physio and OT needs with humour and kindness. Special heartfelt thanks to Operations Manager Jeanine. She went above and beyond to assist our family, showing such kindness to us all but particularly my Mum.

I stayed at President Private Hospital for three months after a fracture operation. All staff were professional and provided all-round care. During my most difficult time, the rehabilitation, nursing, kitchen and cleaning staff showed respect, love, kindness and compassion, making me feel at home. Especially the physios, their professionalism and training helped me a lot in my recovery. Thanks all staff in hospital warmth and help.

A huge THANK YOU to the Team at President Ave Private Rehabilitation Centre. I made amazing progress over the past 7 weeks as a day patient after my hip operation, thanks to the Physiotherapy team Michelle, Glenda, Naomi and Sam. Also the ever friendly and efficient admin team Maree and Tina. For anyone in the Shire considering options for rehab post a knee, foot or hip surgery this is the best place. The gym has everything you need, the indoor heated hydrotherapy pool is excellent and the personalised rehab program and care is 5 Star.

I cannot speak more highly about the mature part time lady physiotherapists at the outpatient department of President Private Hospital, Gymea.
They are all very experienced in the exercise program they run for people like me who has just had surgery to replace my right knee joint. The variety of exercises in both the gym and the pool are first class. The ladies I have had most contact with are Glenda and Michelle and they both have a good sense of humour which gives one no time to get bored. The pool is heated and specifically designed for an exercise program.

They left my mother to languish in a freezing room, telling her to poo and wee her pants when she was refused assistance to walk 5 steps to the toilet, even with my insistence on helping her. Don’t let your loved one be taken here, the staff are under qualified students that barely speak English.
My mother died there, only thanks to the geriatric doctor who administered what she required

Happy Mother’s Day mummy, I’m so sorry it ended without compassion

Their motto over the front door states "where caring still counts." However their visiting hours are 3pm to 6pm. Most of us work 9 to 5. By the time I get home visiting hours are over. Can't say that this displays caring, at least for any patients with working relatives.

Ok. Whinges as a visitor aside, I have also been a patient here and received good care. The staff seem friendly.

The biggest mistake of my life was putting Dad in this place for ‘rehab’. To make matters worse the whole saga could have been avoided and he didn’t need to be there. For an 87 yo with failing mobility and dementia, quality OTs and Physios are the key to life - there ARE experienced allied health pros that work WITH you, but you need to find them yourself and they don’t work at President.

After one month of ‘rehab’ with Dad initially improving but soon acquiring covid, ALL physio was ceased - cancelled for good - on dementia grounds. For that reason I could only assume Dad’s cognitive decline be so severe as for him to be nearly palliative, which apparently he wasn’t. I’ve never seen a geriatrician poke and prod and rip off a patient’s wound dressing while asleep & expect them not to react! Geriatrician no 2, on ringing to inform me that Dad had just acquired covid, said I could take him home. Really? An 87 year old immunocompromised diabetic contracts covid under your care, (Dad had never had covid before so no one knew how he’d go) and their Specialist tells me I can take him home? Little did I know then that a hospital acquired covid infection would be the ONLY grounds they’d recommend home discharge -

Nursing staff were kind and helpful, unlike everybody else. As for the Operations Manager, anything she said turned out to be wrong, from the ‘diabetic’ food on offer for breakfast, to being able to ask the kitchen to heat up their dinners delivered stone cold, to the hospital’s ‘special relationship’ with nursing homes. This place take you in for the private health fund $$$ - then cry poor, private hospital, we don’t have the ‘resources’. You had to beg for a wipe - I rarely saw disinfectant wipes or disinfectant of any kind in the hallway or shared bathrooms of the East Ward for over 3 months - .

To refuse an offer of physio interaction of ANY kind for 4 months, even on Dad’s good days, is beyond comprehension. Not even a ‘move your arms around’ prompt was on offer. 5 months later, I did spot a pair of physios in Dad’s room offering standing assistance. By this time geriatrician no 3 was on board - no doubt he would have been informed that patient transport couldn’t take Dad because he couldn’t weight bare -

Dad came in to President being able to walk, (badly, on every 2nd attempt with a pickup frame,) but he could stand up and walk none-the-less. Five months later, with great difficulty I got him out - bedridden, 15kg lighter with muscle wastage, severe neck pain and blind in one eye following covid. Oh, and thanks Operations Manager, for your constant threats to transfer Dad back to a public hospital for no medical reason. Macquarie Health, you probably won’t follow this up, but you’ll find my details at hospital if you choose to.
