After doing something really stupid (running 109km on an already suspect knee) I visited OSSEM to get to the bottom of the pain I was experiencing.

I initially saw Lynn and then Mike. I never felt pressured to go ahead with surgery, in fact, both Lynn and Mike really wanted me to understand that this was something that needed to be considered very carefully.

After some waiting and additional imaging we made the decision to proceed with surgery. I say 'we' because I truly felt supported and that this was something I was doing being fully informed of the risks and benefits.

The actual process itself was seamless. The care before and after has been excellent and all staff have been nothing other than a pleasure to work and deal with.

Whilst we still need to wait for the official verdict on the surgery (it was pretty damaged!) I am confident that whatever the outcome, between us we've done the best job possible.

Whilst I'd never recommend anyone have knee surgery, if you do have to have it, I recommend Mike and his team as the people to do it for you.

I had a double hip replacement in Sept 2022 and have such a great result. The recovery surgery pain was nothing compared to the pain I was in before surgery. Many friends were in awe that I was getting both hips done at once, but as they were both so bad, I would not have been able to rehab well if I had done just one at at time. My recovery went extremely well and I was very careful to follow all recommendations and post-op exercises. The care at Ramsay Private hospital was excellent and I can highly recommend Professor Mike Reid for his skill and expertise in completing this surgery. The staff at OSSEM have been wonderful to deal with over the past couple of years with initial and follow-up appointments. My husband decided to go ahead with a knee replacement after accompanying me to my initial consult with Dr Mike. He too has had an excellent outcome and we are both so very thankful to Dr Mike and his team at OSSEM for their skills and care. I continue to be mindful of the contrast with how I was hobbling around with a stick just 2 years ago to my newly regained mobility and I am so very grateful!!!

I’m extremely grateful to A/Professor Mike Reid & Dr Lynne Reid. It only been 12 weeks since my double total knee replacements and I’m a total new person. You wouldn’t know I’ve had surgery, walking so much better than before and back out with my dogs. Back at work on reduced hours and getting my life back. I could hardly walk before surgery being in a great deal of pain in both knees & really struggling with my part time job.
After surgery I was up and out of bed in no time and walking with a stroller, the previous pain had already gone & walking better. The whole experience has been a positive one and can’t thank the OSSEM team enough.

I 100% recommend Dr Mike Reid and his team at OSSEM if you need any orthopaedic work done. His attention to detail and information provided is second to none. The level of post operative care is incredible and he, and his team, are always available with any questions you have. Nurse Sue is lovely to deal with when cleaning wounds. And last, but definitely not least, the admin team are extremely helpful and do not hesitate to help with anything you need!

Magic Mike, what an amazing, compassionate and truly caring man ! He is a doctor that actually listens to you about your concerns. A rare gem in this world. I unfortunately got an infection in my surgical wound when I was recovering at home and I was extremely worried. Dr Mike looked at the infection and as he was about to leave he stopped and said “ You know I’ll look after you “. Simple statements like that make patients feel so much better already.
Dr Mike always stops and takes time to answer your questions and doesn’t quickly rush you out the door because your time slot is up. For me I know he spent time calculating what the best medical approach was for me and my double hip replacement.
The OSSEM team are all incredible. With the receptionists nothing is too much trouble for them. Nurse Sue comes with years of experience in the orthopaedic recovery field and has a very approachable personality.
I asked Dr Mike why he was an orthopaedic surgeon and he replied “because he likes to help people “. That’s the best answer any patient would love to hear.

My whole experience with OSSEM has been brilliant! Dr Michael Reid is incredibly knowledgable in his field and professional throughout all my consultations, surgery and post-op visits. The team at OSSEM are second to none! Nurse Sue and Receptionist Di could not do enough for me and were certainly able to answer all my questions and provide me with so much information and clarification of what was going on and what I needed to do in the follow up process. From the moment of first consultation through to post operative care, Dr. Reid and his team were excellent and ensured that my recovery was swift and effective.
