Edit: it took then 4 MONTHS TO FIX THIS. and it was 1 bit of paper work i had to give to my doctor to say that yes, my mental disability that wont ever change or "get better" has in fact, not changed. 100% a waste of time

original post:
it all comes down to who you get as a case manager. some are epic, some are totally dog water. for the last few years (yes years) i have had the latter

when i first got there i had a really good manager. then they left and i was just passed from one case manager to another, i felt like an old raggy doll being thrown around by dogs.

the person i had now never lessened to what i said, sometimes i had to repeat myself 4-5 times in our meetings that would last 10-15 minutes at most (it took me over a hr to get in there due to not owning a car). an example is that i dont want to go into hospitality and have told him. within a minute he says "so, would hospitality be ok" while we are lookin online for jobs (something i could do at home). i tell him "no, i just told you, i dont want that type of job"

he dose it in the next meeting, so i tell him again and that information should be on my document. then he dose it AGAIN the next time i come in to a meeting so again, i tell him

today i get a phone call from him (weird, being tomorrow would of been my meeting, we even set it last time i was in) saying im not with them anymore being my 200ish days with them is up. i tell him that before when my manager saw i was close to getting to the 200ish day they would put me back on there books a meeting or so before the cut off so i wouldnt have to run around to cenderlink and back to them to get back on there books, in so wasting over a week of my time and not being paid then (i dont have a car and its very hard for me to get out)

at this point im not surprized they havent found me a job in the 4-5 years i have been there.... i feel like moving to a different company might be better.... because it sure as hell cant me worse!!

I came to nexus, I have a speach imparement from Birth, I came to nexus initially through Diana who got me into a business admin Certificate, within the second month of the course I was awarded student of the month. I was then Managed by Khosro that afternoon I got into Hotels. , I was Nominated Employee of the month at the first hotel, I have been Since managed by Cathy then headhunted to different one. I have gained employee of the month and also employee of the quarter since, I am in contact with all the team. They care for their clients well being and employment options. I have been with them I think 9 years now. Ive also worked in retail and admin before.

Useless. They delivered a great sales pitch about "reverse marketing", saying they would contact potential employers, negotiate jobs, provide support etc. for my son. In reality they did nothing of the sort, simply handed out my son's CV (with his own contact details) to a small number of local businesses. No "reverse marketing" of any description. They did get a couple of interviews, one of which was a group interview of 20 or so people (no other disabled people), not ideal for someone with autism! After a while I suspect they stopped even pretending, stopped meeting every two weeks (though the meetings were largely pointless anyway, just walk around, have a coffee and give the CV to the cafe manager!), and just signed off the paperwork.

I don't know if the initial sales person knows what actually happens, or if we just got a bad case manager. Either way it was a waste of a year. There are far better services available, as we have now discovered.

Dealing with Nexus was one of the most unfortunate experiences of my life. An agent said "ppl with mental health issues are lazy and dont really want to work", in over 5 years they only helped me get 1 job parking cars and lied to centrelink saying that I had attended a face to face appointment (which I had not) and agreed to a jobplan I had never seen that required an unemployed person to work a minimum of 15 hours a week which got me in trouble witj centrelink. Best thing I did was to leave, avoid this company at all costs.

These people seem to be trained in job creation without any real understanding of mental illness. one "trainor" decided he knew when people were lying and decided it might be a good idea to ask a class to come up with answers to his questions in order to teach. i doubt he understood how anxious this could make one feel
