A special thanks to Dr Mark Forbes for his rapid assessment and action in relation to my recent health issues. He had me into a specialist, Dr Tom Goodsall the following day who in turn had me into Lingard the same day. Unbelievable!! I can now look forward to a wonderful Xmas and I wish the same to Mark, the others doctors in this outstanding practice and not forgetting the courteous and helpful staff.

very poor service from the practice manager and front desk staff. we have been patients for many years, whilst the doctors are fantastic, the front desk staff and management is absolutely ridiculous. rude. un-helpful. everything is too hard for them. they have zero customer and patient care, manner or professionalism. if the partners had any business sense they would completely clear out their front desk management and start fresh. we are now leaving the practice to go to another local family practice whom have said they have seen a "mass exodus" of patients from merewether family practice for the same reason.

As I said, the doctors are great, but unfortunately your only as good as your management team and customer service.

put in our request for transfer of our records to the front desk staff over a week ago which was met with road blocks, delays and un-returned calls.. high exit fee's quoted which is against the privacy act for transfer of medical files and ridiculous behavior and comments from staff regarding a simple transfer.

un-professional, ridiculous, petty & un-helpful.. welcome to Merewether Family Practice front desk.

The doctors here treat you thoroughly when you come in. So yeah, you might have to wait a bit but it's worth doing. Large carpark albeit a bit rough. Handy l ok cation next to coffee, IGA, Souths Leagues club etc.

I have had another fantastic experience at this GP practice! I injured myself in a pushbike accident and was in severe pain in my shoulder. I was able to see Dr Kumar the same day, who diagnosed a dislocated collarbone. While I was sitting with him, he organised an urgent MRI scan, and an appointment with an orthopaedic specialist the next day. To be able to see someone so quickly, and to have the follow up specialised assessments all organised there and then, is exceptional these days, and very much appreciated.

Regrettably, I now have to amend my earlier review. Contrary to the “above and beyond” care I praised, today I was told by the receptionist that to get the doctor to tell me the results of my routine annual blood tests, I would need to book a Telehealth consultation and pay a fee of $85. Very disappointed!
My earlier review:
I can’t speak highly enough of this practice. The staff are all very pleasant to deal with. I recently had a serious eye problem when my usual doctor at the practice was on annual leave. They squeezed me in, and Dr Chris Marley took over, arranged urgent MRI and ultrasounds, and arranged immediate consultation with a specialist. Dr Marley kept in touch, phoning me as late as 8.30pm and 10.30pm to tell me the results of scans. Thanks to his proactive intervention, the problem was addressed and a potential threat to my eyesight averted. This is a very rare and exceptional level of care.

My husband who's almost 70 has been unwell for 3 weeks with lethargy and a very sore throat. Went to the surgery for his annual check up after having blood tests etc. When he said he had flu like symptoms he was asked to leave the surgery and have a phone interview. They said- sounds like the flu- thats it! No check your throat to see if its tonsilitis or take a swab to check if its RSV or Human Meta pneumonovirus or Adenovirus or Rhinovirus or a Bacterial infection. Nothing! Not a we'll check your blood pressure or your heart. I was hoping for a few answers not "you're sick why are you at the drs!!" They could have sent someone outside wearing a mask to check!!! No wonder people just go to the hospital- what a waste of $55!

Extremely long waiting time even after booking an appointment. My elderly mothers appointment was booked for 3.30pm and as she likes to be early we arrived at 3.15pm, notified the receptionist that we were there and were told to take a seat. At no time did anyone approach us to explain there was a delay or allow the option of rescheduling and when after over an hour I approached the desk the receptionist proceeded to inform me that my mother had gotten the appointment time wrong however when I produced the appointment card with the time written by them on it she said it made no difference and we would have to continue to wait......no apologies and very poor customer service! Two hours after we arrived my mother finally got to see the doctor for all of ten minutes.

I used to use this Practice years ago and loved them but sonce moving back have only had bad experiences. First when I brought my 2 year old in with a high fever we had to wait 2 hours to be seen despite an appointment, no offer of panadol was given by Dr or Nurse even during consult. I have worked as a Practice nurse and this never would have happened at our clinic nor the 24hr bulk billing place up the road tgat I had to use a few times with children.
The second time I used them was this week, I returned as they wanted to discuss results with me. Previously this practice had been happy to talk over phone regarding results so I figured if they needed to see me that I must need to do something, but no. Results fine, I saw the dr for 2min and was charged another full consult fee. I won't be returning. This is not common practice, most GPs (especially private practice) will only ask for you to see them if there is a problem they need to discuss.

New to the area, went to check them out as our potential family medical centre. Very unfriendly reception. Not taking any new patients for the next few weeks. Not even kids? Nope, we're struggling to see the patients we have. Then back to her work. Charming.
