Firstly, I must say that my decision to have this surgery was the best thing I have ever done and I wish I had done it sooner. I’ve heard this from many people but now I can honestly say they were right! My self confidence has skyrocketed since loosing 20kg in 6 months. I’m feeling amazing and the healthiest I’ve ever been.
My starting weight was 96kg so heavy but not enormous but I was so self conscious and depressed. I had tried everything to loose weight and nothing worked long term despite constant effort. It has been an issue every day of my life and honestly not a day went by when I wasn’t down about my weight.
My idea from the very start of my journey was to have the surgery and use it as a tool to help me on a healthy pathway for life. My entire attitude towards food has changed for the better and the results are really spurring me along. I also had high blood pressure prior to the surgery and was on medication, the last time I took this medication was the day before the surgery. I have not needed to take it since and my blood pressure is now text book, that alone is fantastic.
My surgeon Michael Hii and all the team at MWLS have been amazing and so supportive in every way, they are passionate and clearly care about their patients. I would not hesitate to recommend them in fact I chose them based on a recommendation from a good friend, I didn’t even bother with a consultation with anyone else. If you are considering weight loss surgery remember it is a tool not a cure and it does require hard work and commitment but with the support you will get from everyone at MWLS you chill succeed.

I had a gastric sleeve with Dr Nicole Winter in February. Dr Nicole is kind, patient, caring and an excellent surgeon. From the beginning, she made me feel heard. I had very minimal pain post operatively and even when I hit a few bumps in the road early in my recovery, she reassured me that everything I was feeling was normal.

Dr Nicole Winter removed my lapband in 2021 and then completed gastric bypass in sep 2023. Through each procedure, Dr Nicole was kind and informative. I felt safe and informed with the whole process. My surgeon Michael Hii and the team. Made me feel that I was in goods hand. I had little pain on my stomach area from key hole surgery. Did everything they told myself to do. Follow the food eating instructions that the team tells you. So now I am down 29 kilos. 30th June, 2024. Still have a long journey ahead to lose my weight. The help of the team, dietitian, counsellor, nurse. All works and definitely need the support.
