Medpsych Newcastle is the WORST mental Heath facility I have ever used within my 17 years of using psychiatric services. Not only did they give my confidential information to my employer after I signed a legal document stating that I don’t give consent! They then refused to send me a copy of my medical files, which I am entitled to. I went into the clinic to request them in person and was met with threats and forced to leave in tears. I have no idea what mental health facility lets a current patient leave in such a distressed state, let alone causes it. In the end I had a review written to my employer that I was never fit to return to my normal working duties. Mind you, these duties I had been doing for 3 year prior with the exact same mental health history. This review was written by Dr Linda Thomas, a psychologist that I had never physically interfaced with on any occasion. My assigned treating psychologist was fresh out of UNI and had no experience in complex trauma and admitted this to me. After a lot of standing my ground and knowing my rights, I was instructed by my employer to obtain two independent assessments from reputable mental health practitioners (A Clinical Psychologist and A Psychiatrist) who diagnosed that I was of no threat within my work environment and diagnosed me mentally fit for normal working duties.

This was the most stressful situation I have ever been put through in recent times! Even mores stressful than the duress from my workplace at the time. In the end I was able to return to my original position after 3 months of being stood down.

This place is just deplorable.
There are many wonderful mental health practitioners in Newcastle and the hunter and this place is not one of them.
I wasn’t going to write a review but after being text messaged and emailed I feel my opinion was highly requested.

Not impressed at all, I made an error about what was funded but they had a copy of our plan and still went ahead even though we weren't funded for it. And they never even laid eyes on my daughter because their premises are not accessible, they just write their report on a couple of carer surveys and past reports. Not worth what they billed at all.
If you have NDIS steer clear.

Excellent customer service, all staff are very welcoming. All of the psychologists are all extremely professional and helpful. They do their best to accommodate your needs and honestly, I have not felt more at ease during a session. They also have a therapy dog who is so happy & friendly!

Maddy has been brilliant with my 14yr old daughter who has ASD, ADHD and struggles with anxiety and social outings. My daughter also has a fear of storms which has been substantially reduced in the short time that she has been having sessions with Maddy. Highly recommend.

Spent $400 to date and had not had one session with Linda. Only to be recalled in for a test then to pay for that. Then expected to pay another $200 for my results and to finally have MY FIRST SESSION finally. Unbelievable. I work in health and this is clearly a money making practice rather than one based on good practice

Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Didn’t even get an appointment in the end due to their stuff up. They couldn’t get my child’s name right twice. I’ve now received a text a year or so later asking me to review them and they still spelled my child’s name wrong after correcting them twice.

Linda has changed my life. Her understanding of how the gut can influence mental health has enabled me to get my feelings towards food and therefore my eating under control. She is more proactive than most psychs in that things are very much about setting in place achievable goals and giving me accountability.

With the help from Med- psychologist it has helped me with a better understanding of my daughter behaviour and how to deal with it with family and friends and a better outcome for my daughter and her needs in near future.
