Given one star should have given a minus one such a system never seen the way they make you suffer gone yo the emergency department waited for 14 hours still no doctor checked on me even after 14 hours they said oh you are 3 in the quee! What quee the one that was not moving from last 14 hrs every one was waiting no one being called in to see the doctor no movement around.
Every time you ask them they tell you nothing just ask to wait but at least but for how long spent whole night waiting we all know they are busy but what about the people suffering outside in the queue.
After 14 hrs of waiting with a 2 degree burn on the hand at the end took my money paid at the reception and went home.
They need to make at-least a proper system for the people coming to see the doctor rather then making them suffer for hours and hours such a bad experience don’t want anyone else to go through this.

This hospital is the worst place ever. I used to think that nurses were angels of mercy, but here in this hospital you will not see any mercy. On the contrary, you will get sick and come out worse. They destroyed my physical and mental health. I slept there for 5 nights and the nurses didn't come when I called them and when I spoke to them they turn their backs on me and they said I'll come in a little while and she go and come two hours later and I'm in pain and they shout at you and they don't respect anyone. This is not a recovery hospital. It makes you sick and the doctors don't come. They just talk and do nothing and no one cares about you. Don't go there, beware of them.😩💔

Although there are lots of one star reviews, everyone has different experiences and mine so far has been quite good. I have never stayed at a mental health facility and did not know what to expect, I have been staying here for 3 days so far now and the nurses are absolutely beautiful and very accomodating to my breastfeeding needs (storing milk, pumping etc). They respect my privacy by knocking and only bother me if need be but they consistently ask me if I need anything. The psychiatrists here are amazing, I have really enjoyed talking to them. I feel as though if I need to come here again then I will do so 🙂

Worst place ever. All human rights taken away you could not even get a coffee or tea outside the meal times. It was like being in jail. Meal times were set times and you had to Line up and get given what they had. No actual help from staff. They stayed behind their glass quarters most of the time. If you needed anything you had to knock on the glass quarters and they would answer if they felt like it. The truth is they have no idea about mental health and no empathy or understanding for their patients. You were only ever checked on for obs and medication otherwise they didn’t come near you. I was told dr would see me on Monday. Then I was told Tuesday only to find out they did not work Tuesday. My son took time off work to be there. They told him Tuesday I would be seeing dr. Wednesday I was discharged without seeing anyone. Got told I would hear from dr in new year. Still nothing. My gp said mater is not good and to go to the John hunter. Please anyone who needs help go to the John.

Possibly the worse psychiatrists to exist, do not care won’t let you say a word about how you feel before the interject and tell you there is nothing wrong with you and discharge you after trying to take your life via a train. Most recent visit I went to hospital 3 times via ambulance in 3 days when I was finally admitted on the third attempt they took me off all my medications told me there was nothing wrong with me, the next day I tried to leave and a different doctor sectioned me as I was going to attempt again and then I was released 2 days later without receiving any help. They refused to do a referral to a private hospital that has requested one so I could get actual help. In my discharge summary they wrote “patient states she has low mood, patient laughed once in interview about poor care received on previous visits, not consistent with depression” if they knew anything about mental health they would know laughing once does not mean I’m fine people with mh issues can laugh too after trying to end their life. They always preach reach out for help if you need it, but what help is there? Is it being told there’s nothing wrong with you? Or is it being told you have BPD so they don’t have to treat you? (despite seeing 2 senior psychiatrist who specialise in BPD and the spectrum clinic in Melbourne who say you don’t) is it being pinned down by male security guards having your pants pulled down in front of everyone and injected with sedatives because they didn’t want to do their jobs properly? Do better. The mater mh unit is an absolute disgrace and the reason no one wants to seek help.

Never come here for your mental health. They will either discharge you a day later or dose you up on meds and kick you out a week later when your still mentally unwell. Nurses don’t come and speak to you like humans and they have limited activities. Stare at a blank wall all day. Dr Fernando will discharge you and shrug his shoulders even if you don’t feel safe going home. He states “we send suicidal people home everyday, it’s not our problem” . Nurse also denied me a vomit bag and said “it wasn’t her job”. None of these doctors and nurses should be working around vulnerable unwell mental patients.
