I was fortunate that when I went in for help, there were very few people in the waiting room. For all the staff in ED, Front desk, Triage, Nurses, Dr’s, Specialists and even the cleaner, thank you very much for your wonderful care and friendliness. I was treated and cared for by amazing people that were all nice, professional and caring.
Thank you again.

I attended Manning Base Hospital for a large three pronged, barbed fish hook removal yesterday, 21st of December 2024 around 3pm was discharged around 8pm.

I'm going to skip the excessively long winded story that comes with my visit but the word shocking doesn't even cut it.

I was baffled at the extreme lack of care these medical professionals have for the general comfort and condition of their patients.

As I spent the vast majority of my day in this hospital waiting area, I noticed that I was not the only person who had similar feelings.

I lack the words necessary to describe how I feel about this hospital's ED.

I feel ashamed to have even gone there.

I am unsure as to what can be done about this horrendous experience but all I know is that this kind of mistreatment and malpractice is not on.
Not in Australia.

The staff there need to learn that we are as much human as they are and they do not have the right to put people down, make them feel forced, scared or unsure.

Hospitals are meant to be a safe place you can go if you are ever in an emergency or crisis.

Manning Base Hospital, Taree is sadly not one of those places.

In my thirty-two years, this is by far the absolute worse experience I have ever had in my life in any kind of establishment.

Note* The only reason I'm not giving one star is because of the two lovely Triage Nurses and the Orthopedic Surgeon who were absolutely amazing, you guys listened, cared and showed me that there are actual humans working there.
(I am sure you will know who you are if you read this)

To the rest of the staff on that shift, I know you work hard, I know you have A LOT to deal with but don't be so quick to judge people just because of your prior experiences, not everyone in this world is bad and there are some people out there who really need your help.

Look, I have read some of the negative reviews and would fully expect to have to wait if I have a cough or a sprained ankle but I can only rate on the basis of my own experience. I recently experienced a genuine emergency and was rushed to Manning Base Emergency Department by ambulance where I experienced first rate care and attention. Not sure of the doctor’s name but he was caring, efficient and decisive and nurses Mia and Maggie were fantastic. Thank you MBED staff.

I went in injured could barely walk and in severe pain. I was told nothing was wrong with me and refused pain medication. Then I had to travel to another hospital to get proper care. I had a back injury.

My experience with the nurse practitioner in the ED left much to be desired. Despite waiting for two hours, the initial interaction was marked by an unexpected level of arrogance. Instead of addressing my concerns, the first question posed to me was dismissive, setting a negative tone for the encounter.
Furthermore, the lack of accurate medical information was concerning. The nurse practitioner's assertion about the muscles involved in coughing was incorrect, reflecting a gap in knowledge that could impact patient care.
While I understand the challenges of staffing shortages, it is imperative that healthcare professionals are selected not only based on qualifications but also on their professionalism, attitude, and patient-centered approach.
Ultimately, my experience underscores the importance of empathy and understanding in healthcare, qualities that should be prioritized by hospital executives and healthcare providers alike.

My wife presented at approx 5:15 pm on 30th April 2024.
This was following a visit to her GP who suggested she go to Emergency to have abdominal pains checked out.
It's now 10:54 pm and she has not been seen by a doctor yet.
This is an absolute disgrace people. The staff are doing the best they can with what seems to be very limited resources.
To wait 5 1/2 hours to see a doctor in Australia in this day and age is totally unsatisfactory.
Albo and Minns get your heads out of the sand and fix our broken health system.
I'm sure either of them would not have to wait 5 1/2 hours to NOT see a Doctor.
So many people have given up and gone home without treatment.
