Best experience I’ve had in any medical facility. Everybody there was extremely professional and really knew what they were doing. The nurses were also highly compassionate and treated all patients very well. Very clean and brand new facilities.

My 15 year old son was admitted for a surgery and we had some issues afterwards. We were readmitted without delay, dr was even waiting on arrival. The staff were all so caring and friendly and the amazing sister Hong (most amazing eurology nurse) so quickly got my son out of the pain he was in and up and moving. Truly believe if it wasn't for her and the amazing team he would have been in pain for so much longer. Amazing place...thank you

I recently had a disappointing experience at Macquarie University Hospital. As a private hospital, I expected a higher standard of care, but unfortunately, that was not the case. After my operation, I felt very dizzy and informed the nurses, yet I was left unattended in the bathroom. I also expressed that I was in pain multiple times, but my concerns went unaddressed. Additionally, I found the communication to be lacking, and some nurses were quite rude. Overall, I left feeling neglected and dissatisfied with my care.

I understand this is a learning hospital but when you send someone in to do a job that really doesn’t know what they’re doing they should also send someone that is higher position to check that it’s done properly for me. This was the case and They sent a male nurse to take out my catheter and then asked me to get up and take out my packing out myself. I was dizzy but got to the toilet alright? I had no idea what to look for so I just assumed what fell out was the packing wasn’t checked over to see if everything was out was discharged on the Saturday the 19 /10/24 surgery on the Thursday17 no one came to check me out I just left. On the Tuesday night went to the bathroom and that’s when I was in extreme pain and the packing was hanging out. It took me over 22 minutes to get it out as I was an extreme pain. Cause of this. I am now on antibiotics went to my doctor, I have called the hospital to let them know three times and no one has bothered to call me back. I hope to God I never have to go back to this hospital. Most of the nurses were lovely but this male nurse was hopeless.

I’ve had several surgeries & stayed in several private hospitals & they were all fine. This time I had orthopaedic surgery by the much esteemed Prof Munjed Al Murderis. Surgery went perfectly.
I was later moved to acute care on level 5. The hospital presents as brand new, so nice & clean, & all single rooms. All the equipment is modern including the tv. This was no normal tv. There’s a big steel arm attached to the ceiling & you pull it down to use right in front of you. It’s actually a monitor with an internet available keyboard, free of charge. This allows you to type in your paid subscription Chanel’s. I accessed Stan & Netflix. How good is that? It also had access to free tv. If I had work to do the pull down monitor & keyboard is right there in my lap. No other hospital I’ve been in has this.
Aside from all that, let me mention the nursing staff. There are so many nurses on each shift to care for you. They’re never short on staff & there is no waiting for staff to attend to you. I can honestly say every nurse, AIN, EN & student was fantastic.
Of course I had my favourites, but my top 2 were Riffat & Amy. Rif you looked after me so well, nothing was too much trouble. Amy you were so loving, warm & caring, stroking my face when I was suffering. I really appreciated the care I was given for the 3 weeks I was there.
I also need to mention the food. They feed you so much & it’s really delicious. I’ve had bad food experiences in the past at every other hospital.
The only problem is that Macquarie Uni hospital spoiled me. I can never go back to the other sub par hospitals again. I have 2 more surgeries to come & I will only go to Macquarie from now on.

My 1-year-old son had a day procedure, and after surgery, only one parent was allowed in post-recovery. My wife went in, but my son became extremely distressed. I requested to step in, as I’m often the one who can calm him. Despite the hospital being nearly empty and the anaesthetist having no issue with me coming in, the nurse manager stubbornly refused to make an exception, forcing my son to suffer unnecessarily. It wasn’t until after an extended period that the treating nurse—who showed far more compassion—let me in. Following which, I was able to calm him. Rigid rules with absolutely no flexibility make no sense in a care setting. Hopefully, this prompts a review of hospital policy and procedure.
