I just spent 6 days in the Lake Macquarie private hospital, 3 of the days in the intensive care unit after major surgery.
The efficiency of every staff in my ward was incredible. Their bedside manner, compassion, ambition to serve and provide comfort was second to none. Lake Macquarie is an incredible well tuned operation and I can’t sing their praises loud enough.
Thank you for helping me through the most difficult time of my life.
I’m so Grateful!
Sincerely Rick Prohm

I've had family in a few hospitals and wasn't always happy, but my overnight stay for a heart procedure yesterday and today here was very good. The ladies at reception and admissions section were friendly and kind.
Next was theatre. Amazing!
The overnight stay was a little noisy (earplugs needed- but it was ICU). Experienced/capable/kind nurses.
Food?..7/10 - better than the old days ?

I presented myself here 2 weeks ago after being violently ill for almost 6 months with no doctor or hospital doing actual investigations and just putting me on medication they think I needed which each time made me more sick, so I presented here and within an hour I was seen by the doctor before I had even had bloods taken which normally has always been the case bloods first wait hours to see the doctor at any other hospital and after explaining my situation to Sam he immediately booked every test possible including and endoscopy and colonoscopy for the next day I immediately also had a CT scan aswell as bloods and after that was taken to my room, all the staff were great and friendly the only hiccup being they forgot to put me on the theatre list but luckily for me my family like to ask questions, so it was quickly fixed.

10/10 recommend and I’ll keep coming back here when absolutely needed.
You do pay a $400 consult fee anything past that you get back on Medicare but consider I’ve been so sick with no answers for so long $400 was nothing to have some sanity and finally be feeling better.

Visited ER tonight with daughter and wonder why we bother with private insurance at all when there is a public hospital down the road full of lovely kind staff. I totally understand that nurses are burnt out from the pandemic and have compassion fatigue. These days you understand that’s the landscape and don’t take
indifference personally. Tonight however the male triage nurse who I won’t name was so rude and dismissive and basically told my daughter she had influenza and she was there because she hadn’t drunk enough fluids. She could barely stand up and was weak after having been sick for over 8 days. He gave her two panadol and took an influenza swab but was so lacking in compassion and care I wonder why he is a nurse still? Might be time to move on to a different profession like landscaping or one that doesn’t involve sick humans. We decided to leave as my daughter was distressed that he would be the one to provide further care and neither of us felt we would want further interaction with him. I explained to the receptionist quietly and politely that we had decided to go home as this nurse had been so rude that my daughter didn’t feel safe receiving care there. She just looked at me blankly. We could see some lovely nurses and doctors treating people with decency around us so it’s not likely to be an entirely awful hospital but on this night for us it was. Belmont Hospital is a public hospital close by to us and every single time we have been there we have had excellent care and great communication. Tonight since she was so ill we thought we’d use our insurance to have a shorter wait but after this experience we would happily wait seven hours at Belmont because the staff there are very empathetic. Such a surprising contrast of two completely different work cultures.

My beautiful 60 year fit coal mining husband died in the CCU on the 6/8. No heart monitor; no monitor back to the nurses station . My husband should be alive. You are fully responsible and awaiting your formal investigation ?

My family member had surgery here late January and visited them on ward only to hear non-stop drilling and hammering from floor below. My relative received NO notification or warning of noise from building work. They were in a shared room and even the other patient who had been in a few days longer said it started at 6am and went all day long. Overheard swearing (F-word) by male employee in corridor. When discharged I drove my relative home but whilst they waited with some other people also waiting for pick up, they all had to move out of the way on the wheelchair access ramp at the front to make way for WHEELBARROWS OF DIRT to be taken down. This place seems a Law unto themselves with staff not caring very much, and a hospital manager who said she was 'not aware' of the noise levels affecting staff and patients. HOW is it possible to not be aware of this racket? How is the one and only front entrance the only way in and out for workmen? Stepping over plastic and bits of rubble in the corridor. The whole place is a shambles and managed poorly. Disgraceful. Clearly all about making money and not caring one bit about the rest and recovery of patients. The Manager needs to get out of her office cocoon more and open her eyes and ears.
if only there was MINUS ratings here for reviews.

After paying $600 for initial emergency visit we were told that if we need to come back within 7 days they would treat my 90 year old father. On our return 2 days later they refused to treat my father and pushed him out the door without checking results of tests. Very poor and delayed response from mangers.
