Today 8/05/2025, I called to book an appointment with Dr. R Sharma for my mother, who is an existing patient.
I am writing to share my disappointment and concern following an interaction with your receptionist, Deracy, earlier today while trying to book an appointment for my mother with Dr. R Sharma.

My mother is an existing patient of the clinic. When I called, I was initially informed that there was an available appointment at 3:00 PM on 08/05/2025. However, after providing my mother’s details, I was told she is not considered an "active patient" and therefore could not be booked in.

When I questioned this, I was abruptly told there were no appointments available and was advised to visit the Moonee Ponds clinic instead, "they will help your mum" . This response felt dismissive and unprofessional, particularly as my mother was in pain with a visibly swollen leg and needed timely medical attention, ideally from her regular GP, rather than having to attend an emergency department.

I would appreciate clarification on your policy regarding “active” patients. It seems unreasonable that someone who has previously been under your care cannot access treatment when they are unwell simply because they haven’t had a recent visit. Patients may not require regular appointments, but when they do, they should be treated with consideration and care.
I hope this feedback encourages the clinic to review its policies and the manner in which they are communicated with patientsand families. Compassion and professionalism are essential, especially in a healthcare setting where people are often vulnerable and in need of support.

Dr Alex is so professional, kind and thorough. He is patient and willing to listen to all your concerns. Thanks for giving great advice. All the doctors here are lovely, along with Dr Tran and Dr Sharma. Definitely recommend. Great work guys

Looking for a doctor as new to area. Got not accepting new patients at one then got in here the next day. Thought this was not a good sign - no patients? Met Dr Alexander Thompson, new to Melbourne. He was great & my anxiety has lessened after the first appointment. Still have to have tests but he listened, questioned, took notes. Marvellous.

Our family of 4 have been cared for by the wonderful doctors and staff at Kensington Healthcare since our eldest child (now 17) was in kinder. They also cared for my elderly parents during the pandemic, who felt very welcome and supported when their own GP was not available. We are so fortunate to have found a community-based general practice that has provided our family with continuous care and support over many years.

I don’t have anything negative to say about the doctors. Dr. Thien Tran is amazing.
However, the receptionist who was working on Monday, Maria I believe, was very rude very unprofessional. She yelled at my 7 year old son off the top of her lungs for riding his sister in the pram in the passage way. Didn’t bother to warn me that he shouldn’t do that instead yelled so much I was in shock and speechless

EDIT: I’ve been assured that the systems for getting results have changed now and are better, so I’ve upped my review from 2 stars to 3.
I will say that I am a regular here now, and they are friendly and helpful, however the appointments are ALWAYS 10-15 minutes late/ behind schedule - so they may consider reviewing their booking process to prevent this.

Very varied experiences here - some good some very poor.
The receptionists are very good in person - friendly and welcoming.

However, of particular note is the poor customer service - I had to wait more than 4 weeks to receive copies of some simple blood test results - this was after I sent 3 emails, spoke to the doctor in person and made 2 phone calls.
Ultimately when I asked to be put in touch with the person in charge, one of the doctors emailed me and fobbed me off. They then failed to reply to another email from me.

If i could give zero stars, i would pay to do so.

Would not recommend Dr Sharma.

1. Not a caring doctor at all. Does not even ask how i’m feeling.

2. Does not provide good information to help me better understand my condition. I had to ask all the questions myself and I felt like she wanted me to leave asap.

3. Refused to write me a medical certificate while I am clearly not in the state to work.

4. Also gave me the wrong referral information.

Please read all the other negative reviews about Dr Sharma. I cannot agree anymore with those.

I’m reluctant to write a review for a medical clinic but finding a good GP is priceless, and these days getting even more difficult. Dr Sharma is genuine, empathetic and professional. I have been most impressed on both occasions I have seen her. I felt heard and like nothing was too much trouble
