After getting severe heat distress from hiking and being choppered out of Nitmulik National Park, the Ambulance crew who met me were the start of an amazing service. Kind , fast and so professional, I was treated by them until I then got to the Hospital. From the beautiful nurses to the incredible Doctor on duty , I have never seen a more well oiled crew ! Thorough and took every test possible. Wish it was like this in Melbourne ..

A big shout out to the Doctors, Nurses and staff in the emergency department.
My husband was treated with the utmost urgency and the care and treatment he received by all concerned went above and beyond.
Can’t thank you all enough for everything you did for him.

Having had to be admitted to Katherine Hospital for a serious condition I was super impressed with the level of care. From the initial point of admission to discharge the staff from the consulting doctors down through triage, nurses, and catering were very professional and dedicated to your care. I am not a territorian but have been visiting for many years and love the territory. For a regional hospital it ticks a lot of boxes. They very quickly identified my problem and initiated a treatment regime. Admitted in bad way....discharged in good shape....all in 24 hours. As I said their care was exceptional. Thank you Katherine Hospital.

First time I’ve attended Katherine Hospital and was so impressed by the level of care I received. From triage, the doctor, X-ray, and having a plaster cast fitted EVERYONE was so caring, friendly, prompt and respectful.
You guys set the benchmark for excellence in care!!!

It would take me a couple of hours to write an accurate and comprehensive review of our experiences at Katherine Hospital and the NT health system. However we just want to put the experience behind us, so we will be brief. We do not believe it is any individuals fault, everyone is genuinely trying their best. To system management, this is our suggestion. Find some experienced medical staff, doctors, nurses etc unknown to the locals. Ask them to visit hospitals and clinics around the NT. remote and urban. Create a few different scenarios.
for mums, old males, couples, indigenous, foreigners etc. Allow them to pose as genuine patients and provide honest and expert feedback.
Then you will get a much better insight into the strengths and shortcomings of the system. We hope this will help. We don't wish to be negative, but our experiences were pretty upsetting.

I got airlifted out of the Jatbula trail in May, after experiencing heat stroke. I deteriorated to an altered concious state, with various other symptoms, pretty quickly. From the nurses, drs, orderlys and food staff, I was blown away with their kindness but also quality of their work. I was feeling really unwell and also quite vulnerable and the staff at KDH made the experience almost pleasurable. I felt so at ease and I was looked after better than I could ever have expected. Everyone is so kind, and attentive. Even the orderly, who had no business in my care, heard me throwing up from across the department and she rushed over to assist. I am so fortunate to have got sick where I did and had the privilege of going to Katherine Hospital. The staff there are incredible but so under resourced. To the staff that took care of me, thank you so much for taking the sting out of a bad situation. I agree, best hospital experience I have ever had. Keep up the good work, what a fantastic team. (Except Olivia who Was at triage the day I was discharged. Can tell she hates her job and was extremely rude to everyone, including the staff. Probably the only angry and bitter person in that department. I'd have hated to feel unwell and be met with her sour presence at triage. She either needs a holiday or needs a new career)

Reception staff and Nurses have always been very friendly and accommodating. Certain Dr's on the other hand, you can tell are only there for their NT Remote experience/ resume boost. Simply put their lack of concern for the patient and insincerity is very apparent.
