From the moment I phoned Kariong Medical Centre, I had a bad feeling. Unfortunately that feeling was confirmed upon arrival.
The reception staff were not warm or welcoming and it felt more like they were just getting through the day, rather than supporting patients.

My experience with the doctor was even more disappointing. He began the appointment by telling my young child to stop crying, then implied they couldn’t be in pain if they were able to cry. The consultation lasted barely three minutes. I was advised to simply monitor symptoms and take my child to hospital if things worsened. No thorough check and no real reassurance!

As a parent, I had to advocate for my child who is too young to do so themselves. I requested further investigation, such as swabs for some clarity and support. I was instead told to go next door and perform a RAT on my toddler, a test not recommended for children under two. I asked the Doctor what might be wrong and the response was vague: “a common virus,” with no specifics or guidance.

I left feeling like just another ticked box, unheard, dismissed and let down. Trusting my gut, I booked an appointment at a clinic I knew and travelled further to get proper care. That doctor found my child had a double ear infection and a viral infection in her mouth, to which explained her ongoing distress and refusal to eat for over 48 hours.

As a mother, I shudder to think what could’ve happened if I hadn’t followed my instincts. Kariong Medical Centre should be ashamed of their clinical approach and lack of care. I now regret not reading more of their Google reviews beforehand.
I certainly wouldn’t recommend this practice.

I have spent a lot of time here with regards to my health and unfortunate injuries. The staff have been nothing but supportive towards me and honestly, I am ever so grateful. They have such a busy and hard job to keep everyone happy and each one has always done their best for me. They also try their hardest to get you booked in and seen quickly if you need it (eg emergencies). They were ever so great and helped me when I broke my heel. They will also help you and go above and beyond, with friendly conversation too. I have a fantastic doctor, Dr Vivienne Miller and I am also ever so grateful for her and her support over the past year and a bit. I’ve been to three practices over my time in Australia (following the same doctor) and this is by far the best. You can even book online easily. Thank you all.

I needed a fit to drive form to enable me to renew my drivers licence. Dr Louka does not know me; I am not his patient, however I was taken down to the nurse (without seeing the doctor) and subjected to a cognitive test, (NOT required for a licence) for which Medicare pays him $380. This seems a blatant money grab. He then signed off the “fit to drive” form, not related to the cognitive test a was subjected to.

Amazing customer service, friendly, and helpful. So thankful especially for Tracy for going above and beyond caring for my entire family, our kids, always having a beautiful smile, a laugh and a cheeky giggle. Tracy is always respectful, she is always kind and caring and mum who is 92 and has been coming to the surgery for over 7 years also appreciates the level of care, professionalism and joy that Tracy brings in the surgery. A fantastic medical centre, awesome service staff and doctors all round. 10 out of 10!!! Definitely recommended!!!

Highly recommend Dr Scott Leung or Dr Alicia Stellar. Both take their time with you, read your notes before hand and make you feel really heard and cared for. I know this should be standard for a GP but sadly its not always the case. These two Doctors are fantastic!

Often find the front desk service to be uncaring, insensitive and unhelpful. Have seen one doctor and had a good experience, another was terrible for my wife who required sensitive support. Won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend.
