Dr Steven Kan has been my doctor for over 15 years.
He is an excellent doctor who I trust and he is very passionate about looking after his patients!
In addition to his practice responsibilities, Dr Kan also visits the elderly at Aged Care Centres (including weekends)

There is a reason this Dr has low stars - he is extremely rude, constantly late and completely dismissive of anything you have to say. Basically made a mockery of my symptoms I had been struggling with for years and proceeded to tell me that an infection I had tested positive for was nothing because “oh everybody has that” LOL ok mate, do you have it? luckily I’ve seen another doctor who has put me on a treatment plan and said it absolutely does need to be treated. SAVE YOUR TIME AND GO ELSEWHERE he is the most arrogant doctor!!

wish I had taken the time the read the reviews before I booked an appointment here for my daughter. Daughter woke up unwell, looked for the closest/earliest doctors appointment and saw a spot at Jones St Medical come up. Booked it and went. Arrived around 20 minutes before my appointment time and noticed a busy waiting room. Approached the front desk to meet an unfriendly and unapproachable receptionist, filled out my form and sat down. The turn over of patients was extremely slow, we waited for over 30 mins passed our appointment time, now, I generally don’t have a problem waiting for a medical service. What frustrated me the most were patients approaching the receptionist and asking how much longer until their turn (well within their rights to ask). Receptionist wasn’t much help and was met with a grumble. The doctor came out and overheard the conversation and blasted the patient for asking; how rude and arrogant- how about you don’t offer so many appointment times if you’re unable to stay on time Dr Tan. After that moment I walked up to the desk, cancelled my appointment and swore to never return. The waiting room was really bleak and depressing and the workers, including the doctor seemed like they hated their jobs. Waiting times were atrocious and doctor seemed unfriendly (based on tantrum in the reception area). Do yourself a favour and avoid this place. So many other medical centres out there with friendly staff and more efficient waiting times.

This doctor is out of practice and refuses to acknowledge the severity of mental health. Even with an extensive medical record this doctor is unwilling to treat. He withheld a medication needed for a serious mental health disorder, that when not taken leads to withdrawals and his response to a single mum with 2 jobs whos chemist is shut on a Sunday was he's busy too he hasn't had lunch yet. First of all. That's not my problem or my fault, manage your time better. You left me waiting in the waiting room for 40 minutes after my appointment was supposed to be, even though I was 15 minutes early. Rude and senile old man that needs to retire before his short comings cause someone serious harm. Will be reporting to AHPRA.

Service is a bit average The Vietnamese staff need lessons on old fashioned Aussie service and how to develop a rapport with patients who are after all customers. Dr Kan is a good doctor and it is worth going to him and putting up with the staff. A lot of people say they are always running late. This is true but not unusual for a doctor's surgery. They should all have a program that let's you know by text message that you can arrive later when they are behind schedule

Dr Kan is an extremely competent doctor. I have gone to see him for a long long time. He is quirky but can put you at ease. For a period I moved out of the area and went to a different dr who could not for the life of me figure out my health issues. I went back to dr kan and he provided me with a great deal of support for my health issues that many other drs could not diagnose or pick up. I trust my family with him. However, that being said, his receptionist Vicky is quite eccentric and you have to just take her with a pinch of salt. If you can get over that and get used to her and just accept that, you will be fine. Dr Kan is also a surgeon and can run late if he has been called out of the clinic. He takes many at home appointments for frail elderly people who physically would have a hard time getting to the surgery, so yeah, he can run late but it’s because he has incredible work ethic and very rarely turns a patient away. The guys has work 12 hour days six days a week for at least the past 35 years I have known him so you have to cut him some slack.
