Snow Much Fun (Mostly!) – A Mixed Bag of Comfort and Quirks
We recently embarked on an overnight adventure after hitting the Snow Festival, and let me tell you, avoiding that four-hour drive home was worth every penny!
First off, let's talk customer service – absolutely top-notch! From the moment we waltzed into the office, we were greeted by a young lady with a smile as bright as fresh powder, who was super friendly and incredibly informative. And the amenities? Oh my! Free water, tea, coffee, Milo (yes, Milo!), and even lactose-free milk. Seriously, after a long drive and hours frolicking in the snow, those little touches felt like a warm hug. The staff here go above and beyond; Jo was a true gem, even helping us out after hours with plates and cutlery so we could enjoy a hot dinner. Talk about going the extra mile! 💛
Our room was a little sanctuary, packing in all the essentials like a fridge and microwave. The beds were like sleeping on clouds, with pillows so soft they practically whispered lullabies. And the shower? Let's just say it had amazing pressure and enough hot, steamy water to melt away any chill. It was wonderfully quiet, and having the car park right outside our door was super convenient. We even managed to grab a soft drink (or a cheeky beer/wine) from the office – though if you're not completely wiped out like we were, there are shops and cafes just a block away. We truly had a fantastic night's sleep. Oh, and a quick shout-out to the cleaning staff: we totally pulled a classic "left-my-phone-behind" move after checking out, and the lovely cleaner let us back in with a friendly smile to grab it straight away. Crisis averted! 💚
Now for the honest part, because every rose has its thorn, right? After a glorious hot shower, I popped on some brand new white socks, and within literally two minutes of shuffling around the room making a cuppa, they were black with filth! I'm talking "walked-through-a-mud-puddle" black. It was a bit gross and certainly put a dampener on things. With our daughter having a very sensitive immune system, we then found ourselves on a mission to deep-clean the entire room and all surfaces, including some noticeably grimy benches, just to be safe. Once our inner neat-freaks were satisfied, we could finally relax and enjoy the rest of our stay. 😊
The TV remote was doing its best impression of a broken jigsaw puzzle, but it actually worked! The internet, however, was a bit of a tease. It would connect for maybe five minutes at a time before ghosting us again. We tried all the connection tricks in the book, but no luck. The TV just couldn't load anything, and connecting our phones wirelessly was a no-go. After about half an hour of wrestling with it (we just wanted to chill and watch a show!), we threw in the towel and opted for an early night instead. 🥱
Ultimately, while these little hiccups didn't completely ruin our snowy escape, they definitely made a big impact and, quite frankly, took away from the value of what we paid for the night. Despite the quirks, the incredible service and comfortable beds made for a memorable, albeit slightly adventurous, stay! 💙
