Gave birth very recently at Hurstville private- I knew my obstetrician very well but didn’t meet any of the maternity midwifery staff until my induction.

All the staff from delivery suite during my quick birth through to the maternity ward were supportive hands-on and very helpful for a 1st time mum.

Without even buzzing nurses would proactively come to assist me when my new baby was crying and I was still learning the ropes to breastfeeding.

I will definitely be back for my second baby.

I was here for a surgery and stayed overnight. I had a super pleasant experience! I didn’t feel like I was in a hospital at all… all the nurses that I met (from admission, waiting areas, outside of the operation room, to back in the recovery room) were super kind, friendly and helpful which completely took my anxiety away. The hospital is so clean and has a beautiful view. Meals are delicious and again, don’t feel like it’s hospital food as well. Thank you so much for looking after me.

My obstetrician, the most popular one at Hurstville Private unfortunately did not do the best job on my baby. He's a good dr but goes on alot of holidays and so unessarily gave me an internal examination trying to get the baby out before he went again... with no explanation what it was- which was actually very invasive way to get the baby out. As a result, I started bleeding and was put to be induced which lead to an infection and antibiotics. During pregancy I had mould exposure and alot of stress so would have benefited from a natural labour. In hindsight I rather have gone public or hired a doula.

Did you know antibiotics during labour creates ezcema and allergies?
My daughter one month after birth had head to toe ezcema and I dont wish this upon any parent. I dont benefit from writing this but just hope other moms protect their children from this.

It took me more than 1 year to finally come here to say that I had the worst experience as a first time mom at this hospital. Left after 5 days (had a emergency C-section) with a lot of trauma and a terrible fear to become mom again due to lack of empathy, lack of professionalism, and lack of respect with someone who just become a mom and has a maior surgery. They had more than 10 midwives around but nobody knows what’s going on! Plus, every single one was given me different directions in relation to breast feeding which made my life miserable. Still working on my trauma and unfortunately has taken a toll in my mental health.

Hurstville Private was worth every dollar. Medical staff was professional, kind and will go above and beyond. The room was very nice and quiet, which is needed for recovery. This is night and day from the public system.

Very good hospital and very good doctors and staff but one year ago when we were doing surgery there, some scammers got the details from admission form as my name my wife name and the surgeons and anaesthetics name and then were calling me just before 3 days prerior to surgery that the anaesthetic named() charges are due 500$ otherwise your surgery will get delay or cancelled .
Even they got the surgery date and admission number everythings.
They said we can help you pay by card or visit hospital and pay.

As it was by no gape scheme so I ignored theirs calls on different times and I reconfirmed from the anaesthesia that we are with no gape or zero gap and no extra fee and they reconfirmed yes.

The next day when they called me again I visited the hospital and told the front desk that someone got our admission details from admission form but they told me that its impossible and its secured.

As I was busy in surgery and was just focusing the surgey and recovery so I didn't put in any reviews.

Just to help new to this hospital like me if someone called you that we are from Hurstville Private hospital and tell you all you admission details and your doctors names and some dues to pay so dont pay them and confirm from your doctors by calling them or visiting them.

My day surgery was generally good unfortunately marred by a nurse who asked personally invasive questions, e.g. being horrified I didn't have children, asking what the problem was, leaving me to tell her I recently lost my baby during the second trimester.

I provided this feedback via their survey & listed I wanted to be contacted via email for their response.

The response was "You have requested we contact you via email to discuss your stay with us at Hurstville Private Hospital. If you could kindly provide me with your phone number so I could contact you" didn't I just say I only wanted to be contacted via email about this?

Edited: Yikes, 'senior management' was the same person who disregarded my request to correspond via email.

Horrible treatment and experience at the maternity ward. Do not suggest for anyone to ever stay here if you are planning on receiving any kind of support and help especially after a c section. The reasoning for the 0 help was that “this is how we get mums to learn”. They had 0 empathy towards a new first time mum who had an emergency c section. They refused to help and most responses were “we can watch you do it”. They watched me cry in pain and beg for any kind of support and help and still ignored. I have just watched my best friend give birth at royal north shore and was in shock at the kind of amazing treatment she received. Complete opposite of Hurstville private. Have left the hospital with severe anxiety and fear of giving birth again. Save your money and go anywhere else but here. If I could give 0 stars I would.
