Don't come here under the guise that you'll come out with anything even remotely helpful. I self-referred here and was put under the Rural Young Minds program—where you go after therapeutic interventions have failed. The first few sessions were spent trying to build up rapport and were awkward and pointless. Her English was... passable at best, but she regularly misunderstood and misheard me, and didn't know common English sayings. I was subsequently chastised for not wanting to interact with the activities; once, she had pulled out a bag of rocks with faces, asked me to pick my favourite one and tell her what it would say to me. I was twenty-one, for reference. Why I got assigned to a counsellor still under supervision and have to put up with this was beyond me. It was painfully obvious she had no idea what she was doing, and she kept referring to her material from university as if it were law. When I finally had enough and brought up the reason I was here (that she was aware of, and that she had shut down discussions about it before), she deemed me suicidal, and made herself believe that I was 100% going to take my life if I left that room. What started as me asking for genuine support and insight turned into a huge backlash of misunderstanding. She came back in and phoned the Mental Health Line to quote, "report me" so I would get institutionalised (despite the MHL not being for crisis services). The other woman on the line was a million times more helpful and understanding in those two hours than this counsellor was in five months. So shout out to them, the Mental Health Line rocks!
There were so many other slip-ups made; her messaging the wrong number, her scheduling appointments that she was unavailable for... but that's neither here nor there. Clinical intervention extends far beyond sitting there with a blank stare and asking, "how does that make you feel?" every sixty seconds. If Nitha (spelled as in texts, pronounced "nih-thee-yah") is who you get, run for the hills. You'd get a more human experience with a badger. Or, just call the MHL instead. This is my second time with Headspace, and they've proved again that they're useless.

Useless and unhelpful. I honestly can't believe they fund these garbage services. Money would be better spent being lit on fire, or going directly to the people in need.

Don't go. Don't tell them things. Just don't.
