This Hammond care rehab in Prairewood, says it’s based on Christian values and principles, I don’t see it at all.

1 star for the Physio, O.T and social workers,
I don’t know what they are doing? but clearly I see some not showing the empathy to care about these patients, all they think of is your time is up, you can leave now, and the patient hasn’t even recovered 100%.

I think it’s time we can get Ombudsman to step in.

The hygiene practices, they need more cleaners who actually will do the job, please clean the bathrooms and rooms regularly, they definitely need renovation. Patient bathrooms and showers, blank.

They only have vending machines, no cafe or bistro.

Nurses; there are only about 5 who are true to their work, the rest you can just forget about.
If it wasn’t for these 5 wonderful nurses, the patients there would be on a RUN.
The managers there are really nice.
However, pray for the rest is what I will say, this whole rehab needs JESUS.

I’m praying for all patients to recover and receive complete healing in Jesus Name 🙏.

Should have believed the reviews before sending a loved one here. Every negative review below me is what’s happening now to my friend. Palliative care ward is a bunch of ignorant and dismissive humans, palliative care is for end of life care, where humanity, respect, dignity and warmth needs to be given to all. The basic needs of the elderly have not been met, they don’t shower you as often just pat you down with a cloth, they don’t care why you aren’t eating or bother to sit down and ask if they can make suitable changes for your personal needs, the floors in the rooms are filthy and infection control is horrible with toilets and bathrooms not being sanitised, the social worker has a thick accent that not even a person who can hear you will understand let alone the patient who is elderly, the drs get all touchy when you advocate for your loved ones basic needs.

You file a complaint, there is no complaint system where someone reaches you to try and do better. They drug the patients so it can be easier for them by just letting them sleep instead of taking them out for fresh air.

No humanity just a bunch of text book drs that go by a script. Do not listen to the patients needs, even though they still are with it they ignore the patient which causes frustration of them and there support network.

IF YOU WANT TO BE CONSTANTLY DISMMISED, IGNORED AND SNAPPED AT AT A HARD TIME IN YOUR LIFE THEN CONSIDER THIS AT YOUR UTMOST LAST OPTION

My mother in law spent her last 10days from 8 - 18 March at Braeside and the care was absolutely first class. The facility is homely, staff genuinely care and they work as a great team. We were all treated with respect and no question was ignored. I loved how they interacted with Joan and her 95yr old husband. They were always consulted and informed. The facilities are beautiful and it was perfect when our extended family descended on Braeside.
The medical team were brilliant so Joan was comfortable and pain free which gave us all comfort. We will always be in your debt and I will always recommend Braeside as an exceptional palliative care unit. Thank you. Xxx

Best decision our family ever made to bring mum who was terminally ull into the care at braeside palliative care unit. My mum got the treatment she deserved and more, was well cared for and listened to as patient. Our family was also informed of everything that was happening with mum and we never felt alone either did she. Absolutely appreciate everything the nurses, doctors, catering staff and admin did for mum during her stay with them which was about 3.5 weeks after being transferred from liverpool amd spending 3 months in hospital prior to her death 3 days ago. Highly recommend braeside especially for end of life care because you will be supported from the very beginning right to to losing a loved one. Thank you to all the staff especially to Dr Shri who has to be the most compassionate, caring and loyal doctor we have ever met. He done amazing with my mum and we are so forever grateful he was my mums doctor.

Recently on 31st Jan our elderly mother Rosario David who turned 101 years old last 24 Dec 2024 upon a good recommendation was admitted to HammondCare Braeside Hospital Prairiewood NSW until she passed-away on 9th Feb owing to existing illness that can no longer be treated.

Mom has left behind a huge number of family members including great grandchildren and friends who were all religiously visiting everyday to get a memorable glimpse of her before her final journey to eternity.

She was given a huge ward at the Blue Wren Area to start with to accommodate our large family members and friends—It was the start of an absolute professionalism and compassion by all the nurses and doctors in all three different shifts night and day. For someone who was in palliative care mom had the best treatment.

They also allowed couple of family members to stay every night with mom. The place also had sufficient and comfortable parking, great garden area and BBQ facilities if we wanted to, a sympathetic hospital chaplain and a clean kitchen area with complimentary coffee and tea. When mom passed–away a week after they gave us all enough time to view her remains in a dedicated room so we can give mom prayers and bid our last farewell to our beloved mother.

To the management and all staff especially to those who went beyond their duties from the medical, administrative and even staff we haven’t met before but were sincerely expressing their sympathies as they were finishing their shifts. From the family and friends of Rosario David your kindest service will be remembered by us for a very long time.

Thank you and we wish you all the best!

Sincerely,

Pedro Dayao

I'd like to begin by reminding everyone who's reading reviews of this hospital that many of the reviewers are likely dealing with grief, which can understandably lead to heightened emotions. This might contribute to some of the negative reviews.

Thankfully, my mother was not in palliative care but rather in the older persons mental health section of the hospital. During the two months she spent there, I have only positive feedback to share about the nursing staff, doctors, and social workers who interacted with us and took care of my mother. The food quality was impressive, and the facilities were well-equipped to meet the needs of the patients.

Additionally, visits with my young son were hassle-free, and the staff were incredibly accommodating in allowing us to organize a Christmas party in the BBQ area. I'm sincerely grateful for the support and care my mother received.

I had never had any experience with Pallitive care until my brother Douglas John McGregor was admitted to Braeside on 29th January 2024. I reached out to Dr Frank Brennan one week before as to how I could help Douglas in the late stages of cancer, and this wonderful doctor arranged for him to be assessed at my home by the Pallitive nurses and transferred to Braeside the same day. We were quickly and professionally looked after and I’ll never forget the words of Dr Shrikar Tummala at Douglas’s bedside when he said to him “with your permission we would like to administer etc etc” instead of “we will give you” these words of compassion were very comforting to hear. We were shown the utmost respect and care from the nurses and staff in the 10 days Douglas was there before he passed, the atmosphere was very uplifting, we were given a room , but I choose to stay with Douglas in the room and was made comfortable there to be with him. I will never forget the compassion and care we were all given at Braeside, we were kept informed of his deterioration and were shown every respect with any queries we had, they always took the time to listen, the outside garden was a Godsend to spend time with visitors and the facility’s were fantastic. I am so very grateful for everything that was done for Douglas in the time he was there, the nurses were compassionate and always ready to help with any query., he was treated with dignity at all times. Thank you all for a comforting experience of which was my first time in dealing with death, you restored my faith in human nature, God Bless you all for the wonderful work you do, I will never forget my experience with Braeside, again my gratitude and thanks!!!! Love Linda Nocera🥰
