I want to start by saying the staff were friendly and helpful, but unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended for me.

My dog got a fish hook stuck in his leg while swimming in the channel, so I brought him to Griffith Veterinary Hospital for a quote. The vet briefly examined my dog—no more than two minutes—and stated he would need to go under anesthesia for the procedure. That seemed reasonable, but as I was leaving, I was asked to pay a $124 consultation fee.

I found this frustrating, as the issue was obvious (a fish hook in his leg), and no diagnosis was needed—I just wanted to know the cost of removal. When I got their estimate, it came to $1,297.93, which I found outrageous.

To get a second opinion, I contacted MiVet Leeton on McKay Avenue. Over the phone, they quoted $400–$500 depending on the procedure’s specifics. The total cost ended up being $532—a difference of $765.93!

I can’t help but feel this is an example of “Griffith tax,” with unnecessarily inflated prices. While I appreciated the initial kindness of the staff, I would caution others to get a second opinion to avoid paying such exorbitant fees.

I wouldn’t go anywhere else! The team has been absolutely amazing with Zeus and so understanding as he can be quite difficult at times. From when you walk in to when you leave, you feel looked after and cared for!!

Griffith Veterinary Hospital are the best in town. So caring in the hardest of times, and supporting in making sure our animals are well looked after. The staff are all amazing at what they do. Unfortunately been here too often in recent times but it’s made so much easier with an unbelievable team.

If you're looking for a vet that will force you to help hold an oxygen mask on your pet, or if you don't mind leaving the clinic feeling more stressed than when you walked in or even if you are okay for them to cause more damage to your already unwell pet than when you arrived, then look no further. I am appalled with how they've handled the care of my pet and they will never again persuade me to spend all my money on putting more stress on my pet than is needed, especially when there are other vets close by who do such a wonderful job! The vet Dr is rude, the reception staff assume you're dumb and they don't seem to know what these poor animals need.

Awesome clinic. We recently lost one of our two dogs of 13.5 years to liver cancer and yesterday we received a card with a vial of her fur and an inking of her paw print with a written note from the staff. It was very unexpected and very thoughtful and it is something nice to have to remember her by. Very personable clinic and they go the extra mile.
