Please be aware that the doctors at this practice can charge what they like, regardless of the advertised fee structure on the Patient Information page on the practice website and the statement on the booking page that "patients over 65 with a current Pensioner Card will be charged a discounted fee." As a senior on a pensioner concession card with a couple of chronic health conditions which require frequent attention, I understood when first attending this practice in October 2024 that the doctors do not bulk bill. I was also told that I would be charged the concessional rate which I accepted, despite being bulk billed for the past 10 years at other practices.

In the past 5 months, the fee charged has climbed relentlessly. All but one appointment have been "long" appointments and charged at $100 once, $110 twice, and $130 last week. When I queried what I took to be overcharging for an appointment which barely scraped over the 15-minute mark, I was told by the practice manager this had actually been discounted from $150 and that, as a contractor, Dr Abbe Hollingworth could set her own fees. My request to be charged the concessional rate of $110 as advertised on their website fell on deaf ears. I understand this statement regarding concessional rates will shortly be reviewed and updated to reflect the variable nature of the fee charged which depends entirely on the doctor consulted.

I am not querying the quality of service provided, but it's unconscionable for patients in their 70s on the age pension to be charged what is advertised as a privately billed amount for a first visit ($150). So much for Anthony Albanese's promise to pump funds into Medicare so as to make health care affordable for all - medicine has become a business, and quality health care is provided to those who can afford it.

Parking can be difficult, but I followed my GP here from another practice. I’ve been able to book same day appointments and had a great experience with another GP when my regular one was unavailable. The wait times are short, they run on schedule even though reception is usually very busy.

I have nothing but good things to say about this GP practice. We get excellent ongoing medical care from the doctors and nurses, in the context of significant life challenges, and the reception staff are professional, warm and kind.

I moved to this practice after years of experiencing a "cattle yard" approach to patients at another nearby practice. I have found this one to be quick, efficient, on time and pleasant enough for a medical practice. (I'm not expecting a 5 star hotel foyer. Staff mood varies, but then so does mine.) It's great that there is a Pathology collection service there as well.

Frustrating Experience

I recently visited Grand Promenade Medical centre and, due to unavailability of my regular GP, I got suggested another doctor. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be quite frustrating and left me dissatisfied with the service provided.

I initially sought assistance for worsening back pain and the need for a CT scan recommended by my chiropractor to check for a slipped disc. Additionally, I required a referral for a follow-up ultrasound after an IUD insertion.

The substitute doctor's advice regarding the ultrasound was perplexing, suggesting I could check the IUD "by myself" instead. Moreover, the referral for the CT scan did not specify the slipped disc, causing issues during my call for an appointment at the radiological clinic.

The communication with the medical centre's staff further added to the frustration. Despite two calls between 1 pm and 2:30 pm, explaining the situation, and a visit to the center, obtaining the necessary referrals became a drawn-out ordeal. The receptionist's dismissive attitude and eye roll were unwarranted, leaving me feeling unheard.

Even after explaining the urgency of my situation, the response was unsatisfactory. It took until 6 pm to receive the correct referrals after threatening to report the situation. This lack of professionalism and mishandling of my health and financial concerns is simply unacceptable.

In summary, my experience at this medical centre was marred by miscommunication, delays, and a lack of proper attention to my health needs. I hope this feedback helps the center address these issues for the benefit of future patients.

Paid 85$ for 10 minutes plus all the drama.

My husband had to deal with a receptionist that was rude and condescending this morning. From other reviews it seems that there is a specific receptionist there that will always ensure that your sick day is made worse than it needs to be 😅 My husband has decided to change doctors due to this, which is unfortunate. He probably isn’t the first to do so either.

I organised to leave work early to arive at the doctor's surgery 10 minutes before my appointment time.
I checked in with reception when I arrived and then proceeded to sit and wait, 30 minutes passed my appointment time.
I told the receptionist that I would need to cancel because I couldn't wait any longer.
It is ridiculous to make patients wait so long passed an appointment time. Especially considering this practise charges more than any of the other doctor's practices in the area.

I have been attending Grand Prom Medical Centre for over 3 years now and have always had positive experiences. I feel the doctors are very thorough and are very caring. I trust them 100% with my care. Dr Flynn and Dr Britto Especially. Wouldn't go anywhere else.
