While it may not be the biggest public hospital I've been to, it is definitely the newest. The staff, like all those who care for others, were exceptional.
Public transportation is right at the front door and easily accessible. Since I've only been on the ward, I can't give an opinion on the ED.

I have spent 7 weeks here previously and continue to come here every 6 months or so for appointments with specialists. The staff from the doctors to the nurses and personal carers are all wonderful. I really can't fault them at all. I know how understaffed the healthcare sector is, as I'm part of it myself. Regardless of all that, the nursing staff are always caring and understanding, and most have a great sense of humour. The food is okay. If you stick to salads and sandwiches. But that goes for hospital food everywhere. Even in private hospitals.
It's all a business contracted out .

Was in Ward 6 East bed 55 for 3 days from 11.2.25. Full knee replacement. The staff were not short of amazing. Very caring and helpful at every request. Went above normal duties. The training staff and trainee staff were very vigilant all the time.
They actually seemed to like their rolls which is rare in service industries today.
Thank you for making my stay as pleasant as possible.

ICU never called to tell me my husband was out of surgery. Waited for hours, fearing the worst. Second time I asked ICU reception, they said he's out. Turns out he'd been there in his room for 5 hours, they just didn't call us. Absolutely appalled.

Very disorganized! Told doctor would come see my husband before surgery, never did. Same thing with physio. Nurse said she'll bring pills for his discomfort, then goes on her break. They forgot to remove a needle in his leg that should've been removed after surgery. Nurse was never there in his room to pick up the phone and unlock the door to ICU for us.

Piano performances were lovely though.
Also, bring a jumper – it's freezing in there!

I have been on the waiting list for 14 months now for a specialist appointment for my knee. After my referral was accepted in November 2023 I received a letter from the hospital stating it had been accepted and I was a category 3.
Why then after 14 months am I being screened to see if I need to see a specialist.Nothing has changed although after this length of time I'm sure my knee is worse.
Surely commonsense should prevail here and patients should be screened at the time of their referral going in.Instead of languishing on the waiting list to nowhere.
I feel the last 14 months of waiting for a specialist have been a complete stuff up!!
Whoever thought up this bright idea obviously has no empathy and doesn't care about people and just wants them to suffer.

Shout out to the awesome team in ICU. Every single staff member I came across during my short stay in ICU was so compassionate and caring and all went above and beyond. Any hospital stay is scary and stressful, even more so when you are alone and in a different state away from family and friends. I ended up in ICU whilst holidaying with my young family who had to return home to Melbourne without me. The staff even went as far as looking into what would be required by Jetstar to get me home…without me having to ask. So very thankful to each and every awesome human who took care of me πŸ™

Was in very recently for surgery and need to say that Ella in recovery and my nurse Daisy in Ward 3C were exceptional. Daisy especially when back on ward after op was all that anyone would need caring, eager to assist in anyway.
Only negative l suppose was surgical team on their rounds with me in total for about 40 seconds and only comments , surgery went well will see you in 3 months for follow up. No explanation about what was done in op or post op care nor did l receive anything from nursing staff on departure on how or what to do once discharged even after asking for info a number of times.
3 days after op all seems to be going well.
