I started Functional Patterns about six months ago. At the time, my general health and well-being were very poor due to chronic overworking and persistent neck and back pain. Max, the trainer, takes a truly holistic approach to training and wellness, and it's been a game changer for me.

The training methods are incredible. I’m seeing better physical results with Functional Patterns than I ever did with traditional gym workouts. My posture has improved immensely, and my pain is steadily decreasing. After years of poor posture, neck and back pain, and ongoing headaches, I’m finally on the path to recovery.

Beyond the physical improvements, my overall well-being and cognitive function have also noticeably improved. I highly recommend Functional Patterns. It doesn’t just teach you how to move like a human should—it positively impacts many other areas of your life and well-being

Functional Patterns Brisbane is a great space to train, with super knowledgeable coaches and a friendly welcoming atmosphere. I’ve been training with Emma for 2 years, and during that time she has really helped me improve my posture and given me techniques and exercises to help manage my pain. My sessions there are my “maintenance” and at the end of a week of lifting weights and training martial arts, Emma helps put me back together, ready to do it all again!

Functional Patterns was a game-changer for me! After playing 15+ years of rugby league I had numerous knee and shoulder surgeries and my body was broken. Trent from FP Brisbane helped me become pain-free while getting me to move better and focus on my areas of weakness. In the past, I’ve worked with whole range of health practitioners physios, chiros, massage therapists, and high level strength and conditioning coaches, but none of them have been as helpful and as useful as the functional pattern protocols. The training that you do at FP is very different to traditional exercises, but they just work and don’t leave you sore like traditional weights based training. The whole team was knowledgeable, supportive, and truly cared about my progress. I can’t recommend them enough for anyone looking to improve their health and wellbeing!

I've been seeing Emma at FP for just over a year. I live with multiple chronic health conditions, that require me to exercise but can also easily flare from over-exertion. Training with FP never flares my conditions, and instead has helped me regain capacity and strength. Emma is extremely dedicated to me as a client, has incredible attention to detail and has a friendly and professional demeanour which makes my training really enjoyable. After many years of chronic lumbar and hip pain and countless attempts to find a suitable treatment I was recommended Functional Patterns. During the assessment and initial sessions I learnt more about what was going on (and everything I was doing wrong) than the 10 years of specialists and therapists. I've now been working with Max for several months now, and things are progressing well. I can feel the difference in my movement, and am confident that the training will continue lower my pain as I progress, and avoid the surgeries previously recommend by others. I genuinely appreciate the effort Max, Keriann and everyone else that's filled in have put into helping me. It really is a friendly, positive environment to train in, and I can't recommend them enough for anyone with chronic pain, or even just looking to improve their movement and strength.

I busted my AC joint in 2016 and have struggled with instability and constant pain ever since, especially when rolling over during sleep.

Finding Functional Patterns has honestly been one of the best things I’ve done. My shoulder pain is completely gone.

I’ve been working with Trent for over a year now, sorting out all the other issues I built up over 30+ years of playing soccer and riding bikes.

Even though I always thought I moved pretty well, FP found all the weak spots I didn’t even realise I had - and started fixing them properly.

I feel stronger, faster, and more balanced than I have in a ages, and honestly feel like I could keep playing soccer for another 15 years.
