Shame I had to give a star to give this review. We went through the ā€˜Enhanced eating disorder team’ for our daughter and had a team leader who thought she knew our daughter and why she was displaying certain behaviours. She couldn’t have been more wrong!! Our daughter didn’t trust them and was so frustrated with us as well as we tried to follow their ā€˜one size fits all’ treatment. We fought back and had to write letters to stop some parts of treatment that definitely caused more harm. The team leader was unprofessional and did not care to listen or understand. She was also reluctant to refer our daughter for an assessment to see if there might be any co morbid conditions that might mean the treatment needed to be different. Our daughter definitely suffered trauma due to FBT treatment and resented us, resulting in her negative mind trying to destroy our family. We decided we had enough and stopped parent sessions and them coming to the house however, this resulted in us being reported by the team leader for ā€˜not following their guidelines’. We know our daughter, we knew we were keeping her safe, she was eating and to inflict more pain and trauma on a struggling family is so unethical. Other agencies we had started engaging with to replace CYMHS described their accusations and report as ā€˜vexatious’- the intent wasn’t to help, but to cause harm and palm off a case that they didn’t have enough knowledge to help with.
Don’t ask for anything in writing, they can’t email or write letters due to their ā€˜protocols’.

Please don’t go here!! There are other alternatives! Carer gateway can help with funding if needed! We believe our daughter would have recovered by now had she not gone through ā€˜family based therapy’ (FBT) It is not therapeutic!!!
We are now with Anglicare in Box Hill and the Door 2 program on line (they also come to our house). We have learnt so much and have found these people really care and have deep compassion for our situation. Our daughter has managed to stay out of hospital for months which is huge for her. Our fight is not over, but we feel so empowered and supported now, something that we never felt with the team leader of the ā€˜Enhanced eating disorder team.’

And I agree, the secretaries do a great job.

please, if you don’t have to, don’t go here. i went here at the worst time of my life, begging for help after years and years of struggling. my feelings were ignored and i couldn’t visit this place without having a panic attack. i was gaslit, manipulated, lied to, and my family was torn apart by the people here. i was only in the ed unit so i’m not sure what the other units are like, but i received absolutely no support and my other disorders went completely ignored. please keep yourself safe and go to someone who actually has compassion and care for your life.

CYMHS program here is unethical and harmful to their clients. The words of being called 'sneaky and a liar and deceiving' on my first session before they knew anything about me, other than my disorder. Terrible service. Absolutely terrible. Should be reported. Goes against the rights of a client.

They only see one side of things not the things that are bringing it on, absolutely useless group the best thing there are the receptionists.

Collaborates well with schools and offers support to some of our students in crisis. They work really hard in a difficult space so I fully appreciate everything they do.
