Dr Lok, I can't thank you enough for the care you provided me with! You are so professional, knowledgeable and skilled. Thank you for answering all my questions(when I was confused and sad) and showing me the latest published articles on fibroids. Thank you for your extremely compassionate care throughout my complex surgeries and recoveries. I remember I asked you after my final surgery-- what's is next Dr Lok? and you said "YOU ARE A FREE WOMAN, ENJOY LIFE". Since then, I am enjoying a symptom free life. Also, my son (conceived naturally) is the healthiest little guy; he is 1 and half year old and he loves running and reading books.

After many failed attempts of trying to conceive, our hopes and dreams of a little family of our own was feeling depleited. We received recommendation from a friend who had 2 successful ivf through Dr Lok & the team at Genea. We got into contact with Dr Lok who assessed our situation with a positive and reassuring attitude which instantly made us feel that our dreams may come true. The staff at Genea in Sydney CBD & Liverpool were both friendly, compassionate I looked forward to seeing them. Dr Lok did an amazing job guiding us through this process and making my fears of hospitals, treatments, needles, surgery, all go away and ease. A very mixed experience full of emotional ups and downs for me and my wife. We finally had our girl after years of trying though! My review will be as objective as possible.
The Goods:
1. Dr Lok is a professional, he will do the tests needed and continue to try different things catered for you to get the best results. Seeing him in action during the procedures too, he knows what he is doing like the back of his hand. Again, a true professional we are indebted to for giving us our dream! Thankyou Dr!

2. The nursing team are the heart of Genea. They made every visit as comforting as possible for me and my wife. A lovely team we wholeheartedly are grateful to.

3. Results, the main reason we continued to come back for cycle after cycle. Dr Lok's methods were precise, driven by reviewing each cycle and targeting what was needed for the next. We definitely felt no other doctor could do it better, and would do it again in a heartbeat now that we have our little girl.

The Bads:
1. The accounting team during our time were chaotic. Bills being sent through all over the place making it very hard to keep track of what and when.

2. It can feel cold dealing with Doctors. I'm sure in every Doctors heart they want success for their patients, but they do this day in and day out; I'm sure that would desensitise anyone and make them often feel cold when giving bad news. Be prepared and assured, its the same at many clinics. Perhaps the most surprising thing for us was after our success and birth, we sent photos and a heart written email for Dr Lok and his staff and only ever heard back from the receptionist.

3. Dr Lok is also a businessman and running a business involves profiting. Genea is up front with the costs, don't come here if you are not ready to pay a premium for his direct services. Every debit is a hit in the gut when you are already at your lowest and most desperate point to have a child. How long you can take those hits will be a personal decision and never easy to make.

All in all, for the most gut retching experience anyone couple could endure, it was all more than worth it. Look for the positives in everything, be ready for a rollercoaster - a very long one, endure, and do nothing but support each other through it!

My GP recommended me to see Dr Derek Lok years ago. I am only seeing Dr Lok since we decided to find out what is happening why are we having difficulty getting pregnant for years. From laparascopy procedure until getting positive pregnancy, from the saddest to the happiest part of our lives, he is always been there for us. Dr Lok is a fantastic doctor & surgeon. After having fertility issues for 5 years with stage 4 endometriosis, we found Dr Lok & he performed an extensive excision surgery, which resulted in us falling pregnant naturally 3 months post op. We still cant believe it! Dr Lok is very professional, has fantastic bedside manner, is caring and very knowledgeable in his field. We are so glad to have found him and his team. Dr Lok and his team are amazing. He is very professional and thorough who looks and investigates both parents before starting IVF to rule out any other medical issues and he was fantastic at picking up and clearing out my silent endometriosis stage 4 via surgery that no other doctor picked up. The Genea nurses, embryogists, counsellors, receptionist and other staff are always welcoming and very informative when you have questions. The app is a great way to see your embryo develop and very special. Although a very pricey investment, it is well worth it to have your baby in your arms in the end.
