I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation for Laura, an exceptional Aged Care worker at Doutta Galla. I’ve had the privilege of observing the way she interacts with the elderly, and it’s nothing short of inspiring.

Laura is incredibly attentive and treats every resident with genuine love, respect, and the kind of patience that can only come from someone who truly cares. She has a natural ability to comfort those in her care—whether it’s through a gentle word, a reassuring touch, or simply her calming presence, she always seems to know just what someone needs.

What’s especially touching is the way the residents light up when they see her. There’s a visible sense of joy and comfort that follows her around, and it’s clear she makes them feel safe, valued, and cared for. Her ever-present smile and warm demeanor make her so approachable, creating an atmosphere of trust and kindness that brightens everyone's day.

Laura embodies everything an aged care professional should be and more. Her compassion, professionalism, and genuine heart make a world of difference, and I can’t thank her enough for the positive impact she has on those around her.

Our mum stayed at Doutta Gala - Avondale Heights for three months and was looked after very well. All the staff were lovely; the carers/nurses were very caring and warm.

No matter who we spoke to in the facility, from the laundry staff when looking for coat hangers, to the cleaners, admin and management, we found everyone was helpful & friendly.

This facility has lots of light, lots of windows overlooking the gully, and a few beautiful outdoor undercover garden areas with decking, which mum used to enjoy. The games room had lots of puzzles, which we enjoyed putting together with mum too.

We believe this is one of the better aged care facilities & a place that we have recommend to family & friends.

The only thing we would recommend, and this goes for all the care facilities, is to have a few more activities per day. They all have have an activity, like bingo, music, etc.. though usually only once per day..We feel that the elderly need more opportunities throughout the day to engage with others, as it helps prevent loneliness and cognitive decline .. just a thought

So nice to see that staff are caring,kind and there work is in line with clients in mind.my mother is a resident here who can be trying at times but it seems that they keep her busy and happy most of the time. A special thank you to all that try there very best and remember that one day we will all need people in our lives who care and have time for our special needs. God bless xxx

I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone!
My 98 year old grandmother was treated so poorly, left her in her room with no help at all, even forgot to give her her medication…NOT ON!!! 😞
Think twice before putting your loved one in here.

I been going there for over period of 7 years .Over the years has been lots of changes, in menagment .Home been renovated inside always clean ,during winter is nice and warm ,summer nice and cool comfortable for residence Staff is nice and friendly.Menager offices been change inside if you have questions to ask you can do without any problem.I have been always inform about person I care for I did lost someone there they been very supportive to me, just like family I would recommend too anyone.

Absolutely pathetic! Don't dump your elderly here! Highcare is a joke they don't check on their patients during the night! They wait till the morning to find them dead in their bed! Took their sweet ass time calling the family! Should be shut down!
