Went to get a prescription I've had for years filled. I'm an ex-local now in Melbourne. Usually I pay between $10-16 for my meds in Melbourne (no concession). Didn't get a name brand, nothing different at all.

Customer service was pretty average, and I was made to feel like an inconvenience for being there.

I was charged over $29!!!

EDIT: After the owners response I did in fact look it up; they are charging literally the maximum price listed, down to the cent. Wow. So generous 🙄.

I couldn't believe it! I questioned it at the register and got told "Oh yeah, they're all going up." I asked if the PBS pricing had changed and she said "Yeah exactly, it's the PBS, nothing you can do" with a shrug. The other cashier nodded along as she rang up a customer.

This was not true. The PBS hasn't changed, prices in many other chemists are the same. It's just that THIS CHEMIST is charging almost double for a medication I need for my everyday function!

And to just lie about the reason to my face?! To try to blame their price gouging on the government?! Incredibly poor and morally bankrupt.

It's awful that the staff seem to be so casually dishonest about something so simple and small! A simple "Oh, I don't know what sets the prices, sorry" would have been fine. But don't lie for no reason!

I won't be going back, and I wouldn't trust them not to try and rip me off if I did.
