Had a Colonoscopy and Endoscopy on the 29/08/2024 at 7.30am under Dr Lisa Shim .. I was at level 1 West !! The whole team of nurses were absolutely absolutely absolutely amazing, nice, friendly, polite, helpful and sweet. The Anesthesia team were just the best too. Dr Lisa Shim is unbelievably nice and very very very best at what she does. Bottom line is !! I was extremely looked after by everyone. Thanks to the whole team, nurses, anesthesiologists and Dr Lisa Shim and her assistants. I am truly grateful ❤️

PS. The ward was absolutely clean and spotless.

Worse hospital I have ever encountered.
They were a contributing factor of my grandmother’s death!
They are so understaffed!!!!

The doctors are bloody useless and have no idea what they are talking about or doing. They are completely insensitive and do not tell the family what is happening.

My grandmother went in and developed bed sores! The wound wasn’t dressed every 2-3 hours like it should have been. They didn’t rotate her enough! On the night of her death, there was 2 staff on the ward! They didn’t provide updates, my mum had a feeling and called and asked about her condition. Thats when they told her she passed. But who knows how long she was dead for.

I don’t blame the nurses, they do the best they can do. I blame the doctors and big bosses of the hospital. They create a new wing and don’t staff it probably. It was always understaffed! Why open an aged care ward if you don’t have the staff.

Disgusting hospital!!

All they do is make you wait for hours. Emergency ward is a joke to be honest.
Just One doctor available and work too slow. Instead Hire more doctor than having bunch of police officers of no use.
If you had an incident, your'e probably dead by the time your name is called.
Better Head to Royal Prince Alfred.

My mother-in-law went Level 7 BURN UNIT today follow up appointment but unfortunately an elderly nurses was rude with her and showed unprofessional behaviour. When we was coming back she requested me not to go their anymore due the way she been treated. Not sure is it discrimination or other reason!!! She was rude with me as well and I took easy as they are under pressure. First appointment all staffs and nurses were really good. Thank you ?

Department really need to put attention on her; due to her behaviour others great work people we couldn't appreciate.

Extremely frustrated and angry with the admissions department. They were absolutely misleading, untruthful and irresponsible. Very poor service and attitude.

They called me to tell me a last minute spot had opened up on the waiting list for a surgery that had about 12 months waiting time - due to it being so last minute I wanted some time to think about it and organise my schedule around it since it’s quite a major surgery. The girl told me I had until COB that day to decide and call her back. Only an hour or two later I had called her back only to be told she gave the spot to someone else already, despite letting on that the spot was offered to me and I could call back before COB to inform them if going ahead or not. She did not mention at all at the time of the initial call that if I did not decide to take it on the spot, she would proceed to call other patients and offer it to them.

She mislead me to think it was okay to have time to decide on it and to make the decision before COB that day - so COB was the deadline to decide and only after that will she offer the spot to another patient.

So you can imagine how frustrating it was after I had made all the preparations and was ready to do the last minute surgery, to be told the spot had been taken by someone else.

The admission girl’s attitude was very nonchalant, dismissive, with an annoyed tone when I said that they didn’t mention that it was first come first served during the initial call. Failing to mention this was extremely unethical and misleading - leading me to feel unfairly treated, very angry and felt that I had been played.

If I had known it was first come first served I would’ve taken the spot immediately, just to secure it and then do my prep work after. I wouldn’t have told them to give me time to decide nor would I have done that if they had told me that if I didn’t decide right now, they will proceed to call other patients and offer them the spot and I’d risk losing my spot. None of this was mentioned to me, even though it definitely should’ve been.

I think this was an important point which by omitting from the call was a huge display of poor service and management from their department. Maybe they should offer more service training for the girls in their department to rectify this.

Just a PSA for anyone in the future who’s in a similar situation, to bear in mind this is how their admissions team operate.

While I understand the criticism of the (old) facility and wait times, nurses there don't get paid enough for the amazing work they do. With that said, I had the most amazing experience in Ward 1C in the new building. The male nurses there are absolutely incredible but especially the male asian nurses there who are so helpful, kind and understanding. I feel like if you are kind to the nurses and staff, they will absolutely be kind back. Of course there were some bad ones there but that's everyday life, you're gonna get good and bad eggs, I happened to experience the good eggs. I'm sure there's that one rude receptionist or that one rude nurse but sometimes it's not intentional.
