Health direct told me to go to urgent care. I arrived at 5PM on a night they don't close until 7PM. After I disclosed my problem, they told me they're at capacity. I immediately felt that the male nurse was dismissive of my experience. I left without anyone seeing me, still in pain and without an alternative.

They claim patients are triaged on arrival however during “triage” there is very limited history taking and no observations taken. An incident waiting to happen with the very superficial triage process. A patient even presented with chest pain who was told to try their GP before urgent care (without any observations).

Overhearing the phone calls whilst waiting, it was apparent that significant coercion over the phone to persuade patients not to attend was occurring which would likely put more pressure on hospitals and ambulance services unnecessarily. I was also referred to the hospital ED unnecessarily, fortunately another GP after this consult provided the appropriate referrals and scripts without an unnecessary hospital presentation.

Was able to see a dr within 30 minutes. Staff went out of their way to make you know what to do and what was expectations. A massive relief when drs appt was a two week wait.
