It's always wonderful to have such a professional organisation as the CCP to refer to as well. I thank and applaud your ability to provide a quality service to support others, especially during this time when the pressure on mental health services is so high. To Emma, John and your team, my ongoing thanks for your efforts to ensure we can always feel confident to refer to your services. Also thanks for your quality professional development sessions. Wishing you well, and thanks.

From the very first contact with the admin team at CCP, they provided a level of caring, helpful assistance that gave an initial confidence in the centre. I was looking for a clinician with a very particular type of expertise. I was not disappointed. It took less than the duration of the first session to develop trust in this knowledgeable, down to earth and empathetic practitioner. I rate all aspects of CCP very highly.

I am absolutely appalled by the response of the practice in an attempt I have made to cancel an appointment with them well in advance.

At present, I have struggled with antenatel depression/anxiety which resulted in my GP referring me to 2 seperate Psychologists. The first referral was unable to take appointments for several months which led me to seek an appointment at the Centre for Clinical Psychology with Dr. Emma Symes. I was initially told that Emma was no longer taking new patients which contradicted her attempt to canvas new clients at my GP clinic which is reason my GP referred her.

After several emails back and fourth to the admin team it was requested that they call me to arrange a suitable time. I provided my phone number and Veronica contacted me. She explained that the initial appointment must be paid in full and at the time of booking the appointment which I found peculiar as no other Physiatrist or Psychologist has requested this in previous experiences. Regardless, I was in need of speaking with someone to improve my mental health and I made the appointment knowing and being told by Veronica that the appointment could be cancelled or rescheduled within 24hours. Upon cancelling an appointment you would assume that the service provided didn't occur & that you would be fully refunded? Not correct!

Once the appointment had been made I was supposedly sent an email highlighting the appointment terms and conditions. This was after the payment had been made over the phone. I have no record of this email being sent and was verbally read the terms and conditions by Veronica as she was taking my credit card details. This version of the clinics T&Cs was issued to me and Veronica stated that "Please provide more than 24 hours notice (1 business day) if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment to avoid paying the session fee".

Subsequently, I have been successful in obtaining an appointment with the first Psychologist my GP recommended which is closer and more convenient to home. Which has led me to cancel the appoint with Dr. Emma Symes. I contacted the clinic on Friday the 6/1/23 & left a voicemail to notify them of the cancellation. This provided them with ample notice of cancellation in relation to their session fee policy.

I am now being told that they will not refund my payment because it is an 'initial booking' and that the initial visit booking fee is not refundable. I do not wish to engage with this clinic any further regarding my mental health nor do I wish to keep the appointment which was suggested.

I am shocked that I even writing this review of a business that should be placing the mental health, interests and wellbeing of patients or prospective patients at the forefront of their actions.

As a Juris Doctor student I am well aware of the terms and conditions of contract. The terms that I agreed to were that of their Session Fee Policy which is why I provided consideration in the form of payment via credit card.

I am well entitled to a refund & am disappointed that such a business would burden me with this amount of distress to recover what is rightfully mine - a refund.

As a psychologist no longer able to take new clients, I thoroughly encourage new clients to approach the Centre for Clinical Psychology as a responsive and highly professional psychology practice. They always endeavour to match the right psychologist to meet the clients' needs.
