One of the nurses was rude for some reason, I arrived during the day and I was nice towards him and he was dry or seemed like he didn’t care. I understand it’s a stressful job but it’s called human decency to at least say good morning to the customer in front of you which this nurse didn’t even care to say. Then we went to do my test and he didn’t even say a word and then just put the swab in my mouth and then rudely do it in one of my nostrils, I was shocked because I didn’t expect him to put the swab inside my nose so suden ( and again he didn’t warn me about the procedure) so I flinched and he got mad at me and told me “don’t move” and I was like confused on why was he mad about it was my body’s natural reaction. Anyways the rest of the staff were alright but this particular person shouldn’t be in customer service if he doesn’t even have the decency to greet the customers or even be nice. I wouldn’t recommend coming here and be with that guy

*edit* while the rest of my review below remains relevant, almost a month on I am still trying trying to get capital pathology to issue an reciept that medicare will accept. Why I have to submit it to medicare myself instead of Capital Pathology doing their job I’m not sure but it probably has something to do with them having sent the initial invoice to my emergency contact instead of me. I’m out over 90 minutes of my life from chasing this up. The next time any doctor tells me to get a blood test I’m pushing back and saying “the last 11 were fine. Figure something else out”. this was a 4 star review now it’s a 2 with this edit */edit*

I had a walk in blood test and was getting annoyed that I (and the various other people there) had waited 30-40 minutes to be seen without any heads up that it could be that long. I kept thinking “when I get my blood taken it’s done in 5 minutes. Some of these other people must be getting time consuming procedures done. Why can’t they have a separate fast line for blood only?”.

Some context - I’ve had my blood drawn about 10 times or so in the last two years. I don’t like it (get squeemish/anxious) but I manage and I’m in and out.

Today for some reasons I ended up feeling a little off following the short procedure and advised the nurse that I could feel the start of something coming on. I quickly started feeling worse and thought I was at risk of losing consciousness and was apprehensive about leaving the chair to lay down on the bed. Overall I felt really unwell.

The nurse and I think the practice manager or some supervisor were really good at supporting me and helping me to feel better as quickly as possible while at the same time being insistent that I stick around to rest/recover as I still looked pale and would be driving myself home afterwards. I think from the time the procedure started until the time I felt well enough to leave (and when that the nurses agreed I looked better) was at least 30 minutes.

It really drove home to me how unpredictable and nuanced even something as simple as having your blood taken for the 20th or so time in your life can turn into something that is more complicated and takes a lot longer. I left with more respect for the staff and some insights as to the difficulties they can face trying to keep things running smoothly.

I took my very apprehensive and afraid 5 year old for a blood test here today. The wait was long as they were the busiest I have ever seen, but the care was absolutely amazing. The pathologist (Angela) was incredibly kind, patient and understanding. She did a wonderful job and the process didn't hurt my son much at all. Thank you so much!!!

It is highly suspicious that this company takes one week to provide a receipt for a paid service. I urgently needed the receipt to make an insurance claim, but Capital Pathology failed to issue a receipt with sufficient information.
When I inquired about this matter, their response was that it is simply how their management operates. This raises valid questions - is there some undisclosed information that they are not revealing to us?

Not sure where about all the negative comments and low star scoring because I found the practice most efficient. Maybe staff have changed! I had to wait a little time, but I think that comes with first in first served (a few months ago I went somewhere else with, unknown to me, a very complicated list of what they had to do and I was with the nurse nearly an hour - I can imagine what those waiting were thinking!!) so now I never complain about waiting! This time, I was having pre hospital admission tests, which included lots of blood and a couple of other things (including an ECG) so again if took longer than normal! I found everyone polite, helpful and apologetic for the time it took. Definitely 5 stars and to those who complain about waiting times, please try to to be more understanding!

The care I was given was not patient centred or holistic. My mum was not let into the room with me and the door was shut in her face. While I understand sometimes it is busy, making sure patients are comfortable should always be a doctors/nurses main priority. This was disappointing.
