nursing staff to busy with phones and thinking an pretty much laughing about an overdose until told otherwise that it’s serious and a male member of staff had to tell them as the young nurses where treated like kids.

I brought my son here for a cut today. The hospital is new and just opened the day prior. The doctors and nurses were all really helpful and friendly and we were in and out in a couple of hours. Thanks Dr Singer and to Mitch for looking after us so well.

Delivering exceptional health care to ACT and surrounding catchment areas. Usually busy. Neat and tidy over all but some inpatient areas are congested, plenty of parking, still may find hard to get a parking space. Long wait for outpatients appointments and public list. At least ED waiting time has improved recently.

I don't understand the low reviews of Canberra Hospital.
Are they under-resourced? Most definitely.
Is every single person you encounter there doing their absolute best despite that? Also most definitely.

I had to go to Emergency in the late evening and the room was packed - it took a while to be processed through - but once I was, all the help I received was top-notch and I can't say enough good things about the staff. I probably interacted closely with at least 15 people and literally every single one of them was friendly, knew their job, was helpful and kind, etc.

LOVELY people here. Yes they should have more space and money for extra staff but guess what - they're moving to a newer larger building soon! Next time I'm in an urgent-care situation (hope it's not soon) I would trust the staff of Canberra Hospital no question.

Three to six month wait time for an ultrasound. Here. In the public system. And they won’t give you an ultrasound if you’re pregnant. What the hell You’re forced into the private system to pay $150+ for a simple ultrasound? In a semi-rich city designed for the pleasantness of public servants.

Great doctors, nurses and staff, all very kind and courteous, but the management system and bureaucracy is terrible, borderline dumb!
They make an elderly patient with hearing loss talk to an interpreter over the phone when brought in by family members who end up talking to the interpreter. What an oxymoron situation! All the administration cares is to cover their legal arses right before an emergency admission!
