My name is suzanne and I'm still having chemotherapy. This experience certainly has its challenges, but the beautiful nurses and support staff, go far beyond there practical help. The attitude of compassion shines through every one of them, it brings tears to my eyes, to think our nurses have to march in Australia for matched pay of other organisations, when every day they are working long hours, pressured with continuous patients, and saving our lives!! The smile that greets you every time, even when they are exhausted!! To me they are angels, giving life saving drugs to give me some more time, on the planet! Bless you all, amazing, courageous, dedicated souls, I send out love to each one, suzannexx

I am writing to express my anger and disappointment in the Calvary Mater Hospital Newcastle’s response to the management of COVID-19 spread with the use of mandatory rapid antigen testing for outpatients of this hospitals. The use of rapid antigen testing in this manner is invasive and unreliable. I am receiving radiation treatment for breast cancer diagnosed in July 2021 and I am unable to receive treatment unless I have a rapid antigen test daily Monday to Friday for several weeks. The staff who treat me in hospital are not required to have a rapid antigen test unless they have symptoms. This makes no sense. I have had all 3 vaccinations and wear a mask at all times when I’m out as well as socially distance. I support stopping the spread of COVID but this is not the way. Cancer is already traumatic and the policy of mandatory rapid antigen testing is adding to the trauma of this experience. Please reverse the decision to use this tool, it will not change the spread of COVID in hospitals.

Given a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer over the phone after being told the week before cancer had been ruled out
Then told a referral to the oncologist would be done that day. Then told after calling several times it would be 7 weeks to see someone.
