I am deeply disappointed by the unprofessional and dismissive behavior I encountered from a nurse at Calvary Health Care Bethlehem on June 2, 2025, regarding my mother's admission.

When I inquired about my mother's resuscitation preferences—information she has chosen not to share with me—the nurse responded with, "Why don't you know this? You are her daughter." This remark was not only insensitive but also inappropriate, given the circumstances.

Such behavior is unacceptable and does not align with the compassionate care Calvary Health Care Bethlehem purports to provide.

I urge the management to investigate this matter and take appropriate action to ensure that all staff uphold the values of respect and empathy that are fundamental to patient and family care.

It has been the most unsupportive hospital care for my loved one. I have been shut out by the management and have no idea how my loved ones health is being monitored. The most shrewd, callous and vile treatment I have ever experienced in my life, nothing short of a cult, not to mention the hungry wolves after my estate...

Went to my first appt today. Left there feeling terrible. I went in telling them how good I feel .. what I have been doing. I told them all positive thoughts and advised that if my brain made me ill my brain will make me better etc. The nurse and neurologist just looked at me as to say ...yeah right . No words of encouragement nothing. I felt like crap after leaving my appointment. You people want to Bury people alive. I see no benefit of what you offer.

The nurses and staff have been fantastic in this awful time. I recommend them to everyone. Thankyou very much. If you can get family to this place they do make life that lil bit easier. And I'm not religious in fact an atheist and they don't care about that. When I die hope it's with them

The Memory Support Unit at Caulfield does not provide empathetic specialised care for the most vulnerable dementia patients. Unless your loved one can get themselves to the toilet and sit down for meals there is no real support for those who cannot. Carers are not properly trained to recognise the varying characteristics of dementia nor how to find methods to interact and engage with even the most difficult residents. Agency staff are used most commonly which does not allow for relationship building. They sit on their phones or watch tv thinking they are just there to babysit, waiting for their shifts to end and leaving residents wanting. Meals do not revolve around the residents habits only set times and nobody to provide meals for late risers(or unwoken residents)- a bikkie and water to suffice? Heating is turned up to tropical temperatures dehydrating the residents and displaced clothing and keepsakes left lying around the corridors for others to possess. Uncleaned surfaces and food are left on the floor for potential falling hazards.
My mother, who is diagnosed with moderate to severe Alzheimers endured a week of neglect; meals not provided, soiled pants unchanged, clothes unchanged constantly, dirty bed sheets for days, not included in lifestyle activities, blamed for her behaviour and her well being deteriorating before my eyes. There are no failsafe procedures to ensure your loved ones thrive as best as possible for as long as possible. A brand new 16 bed Memory Support Unit currently only half full and they failed my mother epically.

We would like to commend Calvary for their remarkable service, their compassion and their commitment – the team have been very helpful indeed in the recent experience of the last days of our sister, who had MND. The commitment in loaning equipment that made such a difference and the knowledge they brought to the table was very impressive – many thanks.

Currently in respite in Huntly Suites, unfortunately the care here is very disappointing and very unprofessional. I feel very much for the permanent residents who have to be attended to by such uncaring and untrained staff who have no compassion. I cannot wait to get of here. The CEO and managers need to go undercover for a week to experience the total lack of care by all staff, and then address the numerous problems that exist, for the health and wellbeing of the residents.

Have had multiple encounters with Calvary aged care. It has been extremely difficult with getting out loved one into their aged care facility. We have found staff uncaring and inattentive to our needs. Very unprofessional and disappointing.
